From Confederate soldier to socialist and anti-white supremacist

Wouldn't you know a radical leftie would quote a general who was suspected of being clinically insane. General Sherman once ordered himself relieved of command because of depression and today modern psychologists would no doubt diagnose the general as bi-polar and possibly schitzophrenic. When Sherman was acting in the excited end of his personality disorder and in his killing spree, it was reported that he actually thought he was "God's terrible swift sword". We aren't talking about ancient barbaric hoards. The Civil War was a relatively modern war in which Americans were fighting Americans. Sherman should have been relieved of duty for burning Atlanta but his boss, U.S. Grant had his own problems with alcoholism.

Sherman was relieved of command when he said it would take 200,000 soldiers to end the rebellion in the Department of Kentucky. Events proved that he was more sane than other people and was reinstated as commander of a Division under Grant, whose problems with alcohol occurred in the old army years before the CW. Too bad Atlanta couldn`t have burned earlier in the war. Thousands of lives would have been spared.
