Ford already has 20,000 reservations for new electric F-150 Lightning pickup

Looks like there is some interest in this vehicle---When the worlds most popular truck, the F-150, goes electric--it's a sign--of course, a lot of Right wing types won't buy it..since they can't blow a bunch of obnoxious smoke...LOL!

The automaker revealed the vehicle at 9:30 p.m. ET Wednesday night during an elaborate presentation at the company's world headquarters in Dearborn, Mich. The company's shares jumped by about 3% in premarket training.
The reservations are being closely watched by the company as well as investors to gauge the interest of customers in EV pickups, which is an unproven segment that automakers are rushing to enter.
Ford is taking reservations for the vehicle on its website. A refundable $100 deposit is required.

I can't argue against those dumbasses with Diesels stinking up the air all around them.
Hate them fucking things

and how much food do you eat that is powered from a gas, or electric vheicle.

He probably thinks that electric combines and tractors are going to farm all the food he eats.

I swear these Moon Bats are all idiots that have no ability to think.

There probably will be electric combines and tractors before too long. Our freight trains are electric.

Oh good god they are diesel/electric

Yes they are. Why do they use the diesels to run generators instead of to run the train? There has to be an advantage. Who said electric vehicles had to be powered by batteries?

It's not rocket science who doesn't know the electric motor has more tourque and horsepower then ICE ?

That's kinda the point. That's why there will be electric combines and tractors.

Electric vehicles are almost as much of a religion for you stupid soulless uneducated Moon Bats as this AGW scam, isn't it?

If I was your neighbor, I'd buy a 68 lincoln with bad piston rings. Fill it with 105 octane lead filled gas. Bring it as close to your property line as possible, start her up and just let it idle all day long

The battery pack on that stupid truck weights almost a ton and without a load it can hardly go 200 miles on a charge so only an idiot would buy one.

Ford has no worries. All these stupid Democrats in charge of the big city shitholes, Communist states and the Federal government will buy fleets of them with taxpayer's money. It will be a terrible purchase but doing stupid purchases have never stopped Democrats has it?
How much does it cost to volt up a vehicle like this each charge? How much coal do we need to burn to do it.

When the grid goes down should we have a spare donkey to get around?

Maybe these Moon Bats can carry around a generator and some spare gas cans in the back of the truck.

Just think about a hurricane and a city like Houston or New Orleans trying to evacuate like they have had to do several times. Just think of all the EVs running out of power along side the road. LOL!

I've never asked but how much does it cost to run something like this every 10,000 miles in electricity? 200 miles a charge, how long does it take to charge it? If a 1000 mile trip takes lets say 12 hrs. How long will it take with 4 or 5 charge times.

These should be questions people ask but these creitins would pay 10 bucks a mile if told...lol

Anyone who orders and buys a vehicle that is new and not tested is retarded

It will be less than gas. However, for one thing there is no fuel tax. Of course that will probably change when so many of these welfare queens will be driving along the roads they weren't paying for.

I'm sure it wouldn't be much different than cars running out of gas during the last evacuation. If the electricity is out, the pumps won't pump any gas either. You fill up before the storm hits, just like we do now. The good part about an EV is you can get enough charge from another running car without having to hunt an open station to buy gas.

1. You can go a lot farther on a tank of gas than you can on a stupid electric charge.

2. There will gas stations at every exit. Far, far fewer charging stations. Besides the hurricane would hit before the vehicle was charged.

Only idiots buy EVs. Moon Bat idiots.

Don't be stupid. LI batteries are terrible technology. Big, heavy, dangerous, can't hold much of a charge, ecological disaster to produce and dispose of and expensive as hell. Relative short service life. Deterioration over time.

Go to Youtube and look at the videos of these guys that record a long trip with an EV. It was not uncommon for them to get to a station with four charging stations and only one was working. Then they were only charging to 40%-50% because it was going so slow. There is not any standardization with charging station and not even charging connectors.

No doubt there are problems to be overcome. I wouldn't buy an EV for my only vehicle right now either. Those problems will be overcome as more of the vehicles are on the road. If you aren't comfortable depending on an electric vehicle, then don't buy one. There will be plenty of gas or diesel vehicles available for as long as I live, and for sure as long as they are needed.

You are confused.

LI battery technology suck donkey dicks and will be short lived. LI batteries are fine for weed wackers but don't hack it for vehicles. Anybody that buys one now will regret it.

Solid State battery technology has the promise of being better but there are significant engineering problems to work out. God only knows how expensive they will be.

The idiots Moon Bats now are so consumed with the idea of LI and mistakenly think it is "green technology" (although production and disposal is an environmental disaster) and will buy the stupid things. You Moon Bats are not exactly the brightest bulbs in the chandelier as we all know.

There may be a day when electric cars can replace IC but it ain't now.

Why are you guys so challenged by an electric vehicle that in many ways is more capable than a gas car even if that electric car may come with some of it;s own shortcomings? Why are you guys pulling your beads out over this?

No one is "challenged" by it.

What do you think the electric F-150 will be able to do better or more efficiently than the gasoline version?

Cost less to operate and maintain.

Okay, but the trade-off is decreased range. Less to maintain? That remains to be seen. Let's see what happens to those batteries when they're subjected to the things a V-8 gets subjected to...

Go 0-60 faster than any other stock F-150.

Um, okay. Why is that better? How fast will it get you from 0 to 60?

Power an entire house.

I can't think of even a single time where that would be more efficient than using a whole house generator...

Dude, if you don't want the truck then don't get one.

It goes from 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds. That by far is the fastest stock F-150 to ever come out.

The new Dodge TRX something that you can expect to pay over $95k for which is a super charged high performance V-8 is about 3.7 seconds. The problem with the TRX is it can only haul about 1,300 lbs which is less than the F-150.

Anyway, the Ford Lightning street truck from the 90s only did 0-60 in about 7 or 8 seconds. So this is by far an improvement if someone is looking for a street truck.

This truck, like the TRX is not meant for everyone, hardly any truck is. We all have our own individual needs. The base truck looks to be a good fleet buy for companies or local municipalities that will drive the vehicle less than 200 miles per day. Truck is reasonably priced, fuel is cheap, maintenance is less with fewer moving parts. Definitely this would suit many peoples' needs if not yours personally.
