The Socialistic view of always taking from the so called "rich" to benefit the poor, or wealth redistribution, is a proven failure.

Democrat Socialists will always espouse this method, for two reasons...

1. They think that it is inherently unfair that successful people have more than they do.

2. They rely far more on government than they should. Liberals shirk personal responsibility, and believe in endless entitlement....

None of these qualities promote personal success.

Levy taxes do not work tbe way income tax does.
And besides that your entire premise is faulty. Democrats have not advocated for higher taxes. They have advocated for closing tax loopholes and subsidies that amount to welfare for the rich.
