And a happy country doesn't elect a fascist troll like Donald Trump.
The fact is that if you can't see a doctor regularly, because it's too expensive, you are going to neglect your health. If women can't get into see an OB/GYN during their pregnancy, they are more likely to have infant mortality. When people have to make a choice between food and medicine, they are going to neglect their medicine.
This isn't complicated at all.
The best doctor in the world doesn't do you a damn bit of good if you can't get in to see him.
Ooooh, "Globalists", the paranoid right wing word when they hear that America is past her best days.
Because it's a tax on the working class and not the wealthy, who need to be paying more in taxes.
Duh.
I assume you are talking about those not on Medicaid or Medicare. I can promise you those on Medicaid, you know, the poorest people, have no issues on this front. My wife can vouch for this.
What about Obamacare? Wasn’t it supposed to fix the problem for those that fell through the cracks?
MAGA…that is kind of the whole point. We are still the greatest country on the planet, despite what your lefty friends are telling you, but we have slipped some in certain areas for sure since the end of WW2, in terms of the gap between us and some other countries. Slipped, but still on top, There is no real question about that.
Why don’t you start a movement among fellow Democrats like yourself to voluntarily pay more taxes that you current do. You are “rich” compared to the guy not working or making minimum wage.
Why do the “rich” Democrats want the SALT deduction uncapped so badly? It sure seems like they talk a big game, but when it comes down to it, they aren’t interested in backing it up.
Medicaid, like a lot of poverty relief programs, is a trap. If you reach a certain level with it, you lose the benefit, so people don't take better paying jobs.
No, ObamaCare just made the insurance industry richer. We need single payer, period.
Actually, we've been a country in decline since the 1980s because the Republicans have dismantled unions, undermined public education, and allowed a transfer of wealth to the rich. We are slowly but surely becoming a third-world country of only the very rich and the very poor.
Okay, after the Billionaires and Millionaires have paid their fair share, they can come knocking on my door if they still need money. Sounds fair to me.
Because the SALT deduction cap is bad economics, guy. Like everything your Orange Fuhrer does.
Yes, welfare programs should have work requirements. Guess which party doesn’t support that?
You don’t have a clue what you are wishing for. You would be in for a rude awakening. I for one have no interest in jumping in that sinking ship with you loons.
Hyperbole much? We aren’t anywhere close to a third world country. Maybe in Chicago you see the results of Dimwit policies and all the homelessness and poverty. Where I live, we aren’t often exposed to that.
What is their fair share? They already pay far more than you do. What is their rich by the way. Is 400k your “rich” line?
Deducting huge amounts of local taxes from your federal return is less money in the federal coffers. I thought that is why you people wanted? Oh wait, this is different somehow.
What I remember is Slick Willy did exactly that with his welfare reform of the 1990s. Then they dropped them after Bush wrecked the economy and Middle Class white people were having a hard time finding jobs.
Actually, travelling through your part of the country, or having the bad luck to be stationed there during my time in the military, that was a third world country.
It's not just mansions, it's businesses and even modest middle class homes that are effected.
And Trump is pushing for work requirements. You should be cheering, but it is Trump, so….
LOL, yeah, those lakes and golf courses sure are dumps. You have no idea what you are talking about it. People from your area of the country are moving down in droves because they are getting jobs that pay close to what they were getting in that God forsaken place. They can afford to live in a nicer neighborhood, with FAR less crime, homeless people not on every street corner and an added benefit is the weather.
So why not raise the cap just a little? Democrats don’t want a cap. They want their fellow Democrats in the Hamptons to be able to deduct their 150k in property taxes.
Because he'll **** it up. The problem with most "work requirements" is that they are meant to punish poor people for being poor. When Trump ***** up the economy (and he will) those middle class people will be scrambling for those jobs.
Why do you think "We have a golf course and mansions" makes you less of a third world country?
People are moving down there because that's where the big corporations are moving the jobs they can't move to the third world, as much as they want to. Like my friend who moved down there for her husband's job. She hates it down there. (Probably being the only Asian in a place full of white people doesn't help.)
Why have a cap at all? This was about screwing over states that didn't vote for him, not any kind of sensible policy.
Not very informative. It states aluminium, but not what items. It lists bananas, avocados, coffee, and roses. I'm UK and buy non of those, well once in a blue moon, coffee. I imagine some Americans are in the same boat that don't buy them. How much will tariffs add to bananas, avocados, coffee, and roses? A few cents? The sky is falling
All should do that each Monday, beginning in June. Not very informative. It states aluminium, but not what items. It lists bananas, avocados, coffee, and roses. Can you keep a weekly list of how much extra you've spent because of tariffs and post it here?
Then we can add up the penniesAll should do that each Monday, beginning in June.
Punish them by making them work? Yeah, ok.
The only thing that will screw up the economy is desperate Democrats. I don’t put anything past them to get Trump. Politics over country every single time with Democrats.
They are moving down because life is FAR better here. Sorry if your friend moved into some bad area. We have those too, but if her husband has a good job in a nice area, they should have it far better than they did around Chicago.
So now you are in favor of no cap so the rich “Democrats” in the NE can get way with skirting a bunch of federal income taxes. I thought you wanted them to “pay their fair share”. How is allowing them to deduct the huge property tax bill from their mansions align with that idea? You are all over the place.
Republicans have brought us 10 of the last 11 recesssions. Soon to be 11 out of 12.
Actually, she lived in the same town I live in now. Which was voted one of the best places to live in the country.
I doubt anyone who is rich enough to afford a mansion is going to skirt their federal tax obligation, especially if we ACTUALLY MAKE THE RICH PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE.
You are on the minority side of this opinion. Most “experts” do not believe we are headed towards a recession. They did, but then flipped on dime because, well, they aren’t really experts but rather shock jocks that fire up the financially ignorant masses.
In Illinois? Don’t make me laugh.
They are obviously trying to skirt a portion of their federal income tax bill, thus why they want the SALT cap removed.
Talk to JP Morgan.
You came to IL once and a negro scared you, right?
If you cut a mansion owner's taxes by millions and get rid of thousands in SALT deductions, the rich person is paying less.
The people who are going to get screwed by this are the dumbasses who bought McMansions on Upper Middle Class salaries.
We have a higher percentage of black people all over the South than you do in Illinois. Nice try.
Getting rid of thousands in SALT deductions adds to any cut. By the way, Trump isn’t looking at cutting taxes, just extending the existing taxes across the board. That even helps you.
No, they are screwed because they live in blue state that taxes them to death. That is their own fault. Sorry, but I shouldn’t have to pay for their voting stupidity. By the way, the taxes are so high in places like NJ, that the 10k SALT cap is breached on a very average home. I have a young cousin who purchased her first home in NJ, but sold it because her taxes each month were higher than her mortgage. That is ridiculous, but again, don’t burden the rest of us with the ignorant voting decisions.
I agree, taxes on the working class are too high, but we've been shifting the burden to the working class since Ronnie Ray-gun and his new Federalism.
