This is secretary of defense you flippin imbecile. He was a guard at Gitmo, wow, that is really impressive on his resume. His highest level "command", in charge of training the Afghanistan counter-insurgency force. I can see it now, tells his commanding officer, oh hell yeah, those guys are ready to fight, we can leave Afghanistan, we can trust the Taliban, and we can depend on this awesome counter insurgency force I trained to fight off any Taliban that gets out of line.
Honestly, I don't think I can come up with a bigger military FAILURE. And his most recent experience, a fucking talking head for FOX News, yet he can't even rise to the Peter Doocey standard. For the love of all that is holy.
The man was accused of sexual harassment, claims he was vindicated. He was not, he just was not charged, put he paid the victim a settlement. But maybe, the biggest thing, he had an affair with his producer, while still married, and fathered a child. Dude, if he had done that while in the military, an affair with a superior officer at that, at the very least he would have been discharged from the military, more than likely spent some time in the brig. This is who you want to head up the entire defense department. Beyond flippin stupid.

But Panetta was a Democrat which in the eyes of the Democrats puts him way up there on the esteem ladder and immune to any legitimate criticism. And because it was Obama who appointed him, that puts him up there pretty close to God. Of course the military was significantly weakened under Obama and was significantly rebuilt under Trump 45. And he'll have a lot of rebuilding to do as Trump 47 too.
Pete may not be confirmed but again Trump is looking for aptitude, understanding, problem solving ability, attitude and the MAGA commitment to fix what's broken in government and set the country back on the right path. I'm pretty sure Pete has all those attributes and that is why Trump chose him.
He certainly could do no worse than Panetta and he would certainly do much better than Lloyd J Austin III despite having high rank and much military experience. The embarrassing, bungled, deadly evacuation of Kabul was our first clue that experience isn't always the best qualification for a position. And Austin's commitment to making the military 'woke' should have been disqualifying from the get go.
