Recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Wednesday, challenging its food restriction waivers that reduce the types of foods that can be purchased with benefits.

Represented by the National Center for Law and Economic Justice (NCLEJ), a nonprofit focused on advancing justice for low-income families, five SNAP recipients from Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee and West Virginia sued the USDA for implementing its waiver restriction pilot projects.

It’s literally in the name! Supplemental NUTRITION

If it isn’t nutritious, you can still eat it but pay for it yourself.

Evidently the National Center for Law and Economic Justice doesn't care about the health of disadvantaged children.

Ha! You don't need to be Karnak to see who’s really behind the lawsuit.

PepsiCo (Pepsi, frito lay, Doritos) gets more than 25% of their gross revenue from government subsidy programs.....Follow the money.

It's so cute when you pretend to be against corporate greed.

I'm sure the companies that make products don't want to lose that revenue.

Neither do the people who run marginally profitable stores in areas that are food dessert.

I'd not be surprised if Big Pharma kicked in a few bucks too. Unhealthy Medicaid holders are great business.

So this is something you support?

Here's the thing, guy, if you were really ideologically consistent, you'd be for banning ANYONE from buying unhealthy food, not just those poor people on welfare. I remember how you guys had an absolute shit fit when Bloomberg tried to outlaw Big Gulps, and Michelle tried to put more veggies in school lunches.

This is less about "health" and more about "how can we mess with poor people today?"

I support giving every American a remunerative job where they can pay their own way.

Something the plutocracy opposes.

This squabbling over whether or not a poor person can buy a Coke with his EBT card is just playing the working class against the working poor.

yes, make work without actual work jobs was so effective with the Soviets.....

Actually no. If you can make your own money, spend it as you see fit. If you need taxpayer support, the taxpayers can put conditions on it.

More class mystification Marxist bullshit from the supposed "former Republican"

It also keeps the dem grift machine going....I suspect that's the main reason for Joe's support.
Democrat grift machine?

The Defense Department went on a $93 billion spending spree in 2025. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gestures and makes a winking face while speaking at a podium.

Some of the frivolous September purchases made under Secretary Pete Hegseth’s stewardship include a $98,329 Steinway & Sons grand piano for the Air Force chief of staff’s home, $5.3 million for Apple devices such as the new iPad, and an astronomical amount of shellfish, including $2 million for Alaskan king crab and $6.9 million worth of lobster tail. (Lobster tail is apparently a favorite of Hegseth’s Pentagon—the department spent more than $7.4 million total on the luxury item in March, May, June, and October.)

In other pricey food purchases, the government decided to drop $15.1 million for ribeye steak (again, just in September), $124,000 for ice cream machines, and $139,224 on 272 orders of doughnuts.

Except the taxpayers aren't the ones putting the conditions on it, some appointed politicians are. (and only five of the most regressive states are taking RatFucK Jr. up on his offer.)

Noted, West Virginia is a part of the lawsuit. One doesn't get any more red than WV.

LOL....Deflection much?

Of course that is what your ilk resort to when you/they can't argue the issue.

Argue the issue or bugger-off.

Those politicians are the ones voted for by the taxpayers. Are you really trying to be this ignorant on how the system works to make your supposed point?

The State of West Virginia or people from West Virginia?

You can find lefty grifters in any State, they just tend to concentrate in the Blue ones.

The Defense Department went on a $93 billion spending spree in 2025.

During Donald Trump’s entire four-year first term, the military consumed $108.4 million worth of lobster. When it’s not shelling out for those tails, Trump’s Pentagon is going nuts for Alaskan king crab: The military ordered it more than 600 times last year, spending over $17.6 million on the best long, spindly legs money can buy.

Not even close to $1 BILLION.
