As a deadly virus sweeps across the nation now might be the time to focus on potential spreaders. The US should immediately implement emergency laws to remove all tobacco from stores and supermarkets. In addition, it should put into place federal requirements to quadruple the price of cigarettes and vaping products that compromise the lungs making them more susceptible to pneumonia.

All tobacco products should be available only through special distribution centers where users are required to be tested for high risk lung-compromising behavior like opioid and marijuana use as well, making them likely carriers of Covid-19. Once tobacco users are herded through these special centers those that test positive for the virus can be identified and quarantined immediately probably in special FEMA camps equipped with medical facilities. This is not unconstitutional because smokers have every right in the world to read the warnings and voluntarily drop tobacco use saving their own lungs and reducing the risk of infecting others.

Federal laws should be enacted punishing black marketeers with mandatory life sentences. This is an opportunity to not only protect the innocent from deadly exposure to a lethal pathogen but also wipe out an industry that kills millions in the best of times.

the tobacco lobby is too strong & congress critters who benefit from their dark money would never go along. as for vaping? donny bent over & grabbed his ankles for them, so that won't be happening either.

There is at least one study suggesting that smokers in China were disproportionately underrepresented in COVID hospitalizations. Perhaps in the name of flattening the curve, everyone should be required to smoke. The government can send cartons of marlboros or bags of weed to every household.

The OP seems to be mistaking the disease and the virus ... SARS-CoV-2 is what is spreading around causing Covid-19 ... unless folks are sharing their cigarettes, the smoking doesn't increase the spread of SARS-CoV-2 ... so nothing about the OP will help control the pandemic ...

Ah ... but once someone IS infected with SARS-CoV-2 ... then yes, cigarette smokers will be more impacted by the disease Covid-19 ... and they pay higher health insurance premiums to cover the extra treatment costs ...

Diabetes is another big risk factor for Covid-19 ... we should quadruple the price of sugar ... "mandatory life sentences" means we need to build more prisons ... or start releasing those convicted of lesser crimes like murder, arson and rape ...

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
Obviously I am. But ask yourself this: Why are the healthy people being shanghaied on ships at sea instead of the other way around?

The left would get the heebie-jeebies and shit their britches if they closed down the pot dispensaries. The last thing I'd want is to be locked up in a FEMA camp with a bunch of potheads with the Joneses

Maybe. Maybe not. https://www.ejinme.com/article/S0953-6205(20)30110-2/fulltext

As a libertarian I don't care what people do as long as it doesn't adversely affect others. But hospitals are cluttered with people dying of lung diseases from tobacco and I have to wait in line for a regular medical checkup.

While we stay sequestered in our homes to starve a virus, we should ask ourselves how many lives could be saved if we just cut off the supply of tobacco for a few months.

As a person who grows and processes his own tobacco, I would love to see it made illegal.
Do that soon so I can start more plants to sell at the new higher prices this fall.

Under my plan you'd be growing it in a federal penitentiary.

95% of adult men in China smoke cigarettes. Virtually everyone of these elderly chain smokers have chronic lung problems.
In Italy 95% of people over seventy live with extended families.
Notice a correlation?
The old and sick are the ones who are dying.
Yesterday on CNN there was a huge 'BREAKING NEWS"! headline that claimed an "infant had died of the virus". It turned out that the infant had been born with massive health problems. CNN didn't bother to mention that fact. Fucking bastards!

When this is over there are going to be some very serious repercussions coming the LIB media's way.

Different time, different place, different people. The op says nothing about banning the product.

Nope. He's not. A few days ago he started a thread gloating over the smokers and drinkers and drug users who are going to die.
That's why we need to make them a focus group for study to halt the spread of the virus. It's just good science.
