Senate approves controversial religious freedom bill Fox 59

The state Senate passed a controversial religious freedom bill Tuesday that could potentially allow Indiana businesses to refuse service to newly married same-sex couples. This bill passed on with Republican support, 40-10, and now heads to the House of Representatives.

“If you were to ask the question, what is the single most important pillar of our democracy, chances are the answer to that question is going to be freedom of religion,” said State Senator Scott Schneider (R – Indianapolis) during Tuesday’s debate.

Or she can just go into a business that doesn't require her to offend her imaginary sky pixie.

Bigot.

Yes, we know she is.

But to the point. She chose a certain line of work. If she doesn't want to deal with that kind of customer, she shouldn't be in that kind of business.

And why should this law be enforced, yet others like immigration are not?

-Geaux

Because this law CAN be enforced. Fairly easily.

The problem with the immigration laws is that we all knowingly break them. We all hire those day-laborers who hang around the Home Depot. I suspect a lot of businesses who refuse to do business with "Those people' get away with it because no one complains about that, either.

SO really, the woman who blurts out to two gays she's known for years "I'm totally not going to do business with you because Jesus" is kind of like the Illegal who hangs outside the Immigration office all day with a sombrero.

I never hired a day laborer, are you admiting to your criminal activity? Because if you are that is the perfect liberal thing to do. You break the law then wishing not to be a criminal get the law changed. But your are still a criminal.

I guess we need to take a look at all those +55 years of age or older housing/communities

So, I don't have to sell you a house in my development if you're not over 55.

-Geaux

Not sure what that has to do with anything, exactly.

If you're under 55, you need not apply. In this case, if you're gay, you need not apply

As the bible depicts, the persecution of Christians is picking up steam and the temple will soon be built

If this isn't embedded with succession fuel, then nothing is. Interesting the modern Scarlet Letter 'G' for gay, represents victory when in actuality, we all feel sorry for their parents.

It's time for those of us raised in the Bible Belt to rise.

(CNN)If you have not been following the case of Barronelle Stutzman, you should be.

Stutzman is the Washington florist who has been sued for living out her Christian beliefs. In 2013, a long-time friend and customer came to her flower shop and asked her to provide flowers for his gay wedding. Stutzman had known this man and had done business with him for about nine years. Nevertheless, she told him that she could not participate in his wedding "because of my relationship with Jesus."

The man's partner subsequently spread the word via social media. As a result, the attorney general of Washington State sued Stutzman for violating the state's anti-discrimination law. The two men also sued her in their personal capacity and were represented by the ACLU. As a result of these lawsuits, Stutzman stands to lose her business, her home, and her personal savings. Her whole life hangs in the balance with this case.

Yesterday, a Washington State judge issued a summary judgment that went against her. Stutzman's legal team put out this statement explaining what this means:

A state judge ruled Wednesday that Washington floral artist and grandmother Barronelle Stutzman must provide full support for wedding ceremonies that are contrary to her faith.

We don't have religious freedom in the USA. We have the right to identify as any religion we like, but not to then actually practice it. Much of what religions say would have adherents arrested for murder, infanticide, rape, slavery, various hate crimes, etc. So while you claim to be these religions, you can't actually follow them to any great degree.

Nope, you, as with most liberals got it ass backwards, which is what I think you like.

She did not call the gay man a pixie or anything like that. She just voiced her sincerely held religious beliefs. Your agreeing with them has no bearing on the first amendment right. That is really what the first amendment is all about, stopping bigots like you from interfering in religious belief. I will admit though that the bigots on the left has done a good job of twisting the first amendment around to where it is unrecognizable.

BTW I don't necessarily agree with her beliefs and in the way the country is heading I am thinking economics and public sentiment will change her attitude. But until then it is her RIGHT to her strongly held religious beliefs. Much like the courts have ruled Muslims can refuse cab fairs for those with dogs and alcohol.

I never hired a day laborer, are you admiting to your criminal activity? Because if you are that is the perfect liberal thing to do. You break the law then wishing not to be a criminal get the law changed. But your are still a criminal.

I personally never have, but I know people who do. They aren't criminals and neither are the day laborers as far as I'm concerned.

The problem with you guys is you think that immigration laws can be enforced.

that is such a idiotic generalization I really have to wonder if you know anything about any religion.

Again, if denying you access to housing because you are under 55, that is because I made the choice to only sell to those who meet my age requirement,

Then why can't I set requirements relative to who I sell flowers too?

You mean the First amendment written by Deists to keep Christians from dominating government or establishing state religion. THAT First Amendment? You can't have freedom of religion unless you have freedom FROM religion.

She has a "right" to believe in whatever Imaginary Friends In The Sky she wants to. But when he put out a sign that said, "Flowers for sale", then she has to sell the ******* flowers.

First, i've never heard this claim. Do you have a link?

Second, drunks or dogs could present a potential danger to a cab driver and his property, so I could see that being a valid concern. If it were true which I don't think it is.

The problem with you guys is you think you'll get your lettuce picked on the cheap and you think immigration can't be enforced.

The problem with you guys is that the rich people who run your party are the ones who are paying to get that lettuce picked.

So they fight to get more immigrants in here to take your jobs, but use your fear of those darkies to keep you voting against your own economic interests.

Someday, you might figure out you and the immigrants are really in the same boat.

If their taking any jobs it would be from the dummy democrats who conduct those type medial task for compensation. Their lack of education has presented them with the limited opportunities their efforts produced.
