Didn't Reagan stomp Carter in the only debate in 1980 just about a week before the election? I'm too young to remember, was born in '80.

Does anyone really think Romney can turn out that type of debate performance?

Romney does not need a great debate performance. An average one should result in BO getting smoked.

If a majority of voters come away from the debate thinking Romney is capable, BO is a one term failure for sure. BO had his chance and instead of making things better, he made them much worse. Time to fire him.

Gallup polling today put Obama ahead of Mitt Romney by 4 points after the godless DNC Convention.

Back in 1980 Gallup had Jimmy Carter up over Ronald Reagan by 4 points in mid to late September… And, Carter was up 8 points in October. In fact there was a published Gallup poll showing Carter up six among likely voters in a poll conducted Oct. 24 to 27.

Ronald Reagan ended up winning by 9 points and taking 44 states.

I would question any gallup poll stats since obama's DOJ sued them for poll numbers that favored Romney over obama.

Consider the following 11 economic facts:
1. When you include the underutilized labor figure with the eight million Americans who have lost hope altogether and stopped looking for a job, real unemployment now stands at just under 19 percent.
2. If the labor force were the same as when President Obama took office in January 2009, the unemployment rate reported on Friday would be 11.2 percent.
3. A record 88,921,000 Americans are no longer in the labor force. To be included in that figure, an individual must be over 16 years of age, a civilian, not in a mental hospital or nursing home, and have stopped hunting for a job for at least four weeks.
4. The average American lost 40 percent of their wealth from 2007 to 2010.
5. Every fifth man in America is out of work.
6. One out of two Americans are now low-income or below the poverty line.
7. Over the past four years, 400,000 food stamp recipients a month have been added to the welfare dole.
8. In 2006-2007, 90 percent of college graduates landed jobs. Under Obama, just 56 percent find work after college.
9. A gallon of gasoline cost $1.84 when Obama entered office. Today, a gallon of gas costs $3.77.
10. Every fourth home mortgage in America is underwater.
11. Under Obama, healthcare costs have skyrocketed 18.9 percent.

You can always tell Republican Desperation when they keep bringing up this talking point. I guess some of them are too young to actually remember the most important thing about that number. The most important thing was THIS GUY-

This is John B. Anderson, a Liberal Republican who launched his own independent bid when he figured out the GOP wasn't friendly to liberals anymore.

In September 1980, he was polling at 17%, drawing about equally from Reagan (who was not entirely trusted by the GOP Estabishment in the Northeast) as well as liberals who were disappointed with Carter and supported Ted Kennedy in the primaries. He was really popular amongst college kids at the time.

Well, long story short, 17% in the polls got him a podium in the proposed debates. Carter refused to debate him, but Reagan was happy to, making himself look a lot more credible to a lot more people. Finally, Carter had to agree to a debate with Reagan, who benefited greatly from it.

Anderson finally ended up at 6% of the vote, mostly liberals.

Since there is no credible third party this time around (Sorry, Gary Johnson! Sorry fools who tried to start Americans Elect), it's really not comparable.

A third party might have given permission to Obama Supporters to not show up, as Anderson did with Carter and as Perot did with Bush-41.
