One variant is “what have YOU done about it?” as if to suggest that if you haven’t “done” something about the topic in your own life, then talking about it, here, is of no value. Related fun fact, a political message board exists to discuss matters of some concern to the members. We are by and large not legislators and our discussion rarely if ever move the needle on how our government operates.
