The internet, and the world wide web, began in 1994, this, was officially the end of the, "album," and the death of the rock&roll star.

Thus, after that, no more rock stars were born after that. . . "officially."

"Hepworth cites 1994 as the end of the era, with Kurt Cobain, who died that year, the last rock star. It's no coincidence that this was the dawn of the internet, that great mystique-buster.. . . "

Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, Christine McVie, Janis Joplin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bonnie Raitt and Gracie Slick.
You are the first person that I have run across who considers Mary Chapin Carpenter to be a rock act. She did have two crossover songs with "Passionate Kisses" and "Grow Old With Me" making the Adult Contemporary top 20 back in the 90s, but most of her success was in country music.

God bless you and Mary always!!!

Holly

P.S. I love her duet with the late and legendary Joe Diffie named "Not Too Much To Ask".

I'd say she's country rock with a little folk mixed in. I like 'He Thinks He'll Keep Her' best, but I like pretty much all her songs. I also like when she performs with Kenny Loggins at various Earth Day celebrations.

thats WHY i made the statement about pat benatar earlier.None of the artists mentioned on this thread "including my favorites stevie nicks and ann wilson of heart" give me goosebumps like Benatar does. I saw her in concert for the first time last year,i just wish i could get into a time machine and go back to the 80's to have gotten the chance to see her when she was hot drop dead gorgeous.:(
she really gets emotional in her songs and puts all her heart into it you can tell.

I need to add this one on to my list as well. she also same as Pat,really went all out and put all her emotions and put her heart into her songs,so much so she would even cry when singing them.

How people could possibly leave her off their list iincluding myself is beyond me,I forgot about her because unlike the 3 i mentioned, she is no longer alive, she tragically died a much too soon death. here is that new list with the new one added on i am talking about below. had i ever had the chance to see her in concert i guarantee i would have been escorted out of there because i would have rushed the stage for Branagan to get the chance to touch her.

Stevie Nicks
Ann Wilson
Pat Benatar.
LAURA BRANIGAN.

Patti Smith, Emmylou Harris, Tina Weymouth, and Kim Deal but not sure any of them would be considered a Rock Era vocalist

I love Emmy Lou, but she's folk and country, not rock, imho. My favorite album of hers is Wrecking Ball. I haven't heard all of them, though.

Her and Gram put out some great music. I like almost all of her music, putting on one of her records takes me instantly back to being a little kid sitting in front of that huge ass wooden entertainment center as mom cleaned the house.
