Again, the problem isn't what the cops did or didn't do.

It was that a crazy person was able to get a semi-automatic weapon and kill a bunch of people.

Retired from that Dept, and this is nothing new. It happened during the Stack adm and before and after. The Office of Sheriff has and will always be Political and those families who have clout can get hired and promoted. I could write a book on any Dept. There are those that fill the real needs of the Dept for doing the job, and those who are for looks. You do have the same problem in any Office where the In charge person is elected. Just the way things are.

Was a Deputy for a long time. I felt they make the rules, and if I don't feel they will work I just bypassed them and did what needed don't. Take the flack later, because sometimes lives depend on you.

Actually, from the Cop who gave us a lecture on what to do if we have an active shooter, and we all looked around at our co-workers and wondered which one of them might be an active shooter.

They said they secure the perimeter and THEN move in and our best survival strategy was to shelter in place.
