A textbook example of evolution. In this case CRISPR does in hours what it took mother nature a billion years to accomplish. It changes the underlying molecular mechanisms "enough" to where people start calling it a different species. 'Cause it looks different. And behaves different.

So if you were a fossil hunter, and found one of these, and then found its "normal" ancestor, you would conclude that one descended from another, and a DNA sequence would confirm the similarity. Only after years of extensive research, and with considerable luck, would you discover the exact reason for the two heads. And by that time the organism would have changed again and evolved away from you.
