So the whole population of the world was only 250,000 at the time of Jesus, but there were 130,000 fighting men during the time of David (and by extension, a lot more than that when you count women, children, and old men) in Israel alone.
So did the population of the world suddenly drop? Now, there was a plague that God ordered right after the census that supposedly killed 70,000 in Israel. But to hear you tell it, between David and Jesus, there must have been some disaster that wiped out most of the world's population to bring the whole global population down to 250,000.
