This seems to be grossly underestimated in the US.
I'll just quote something from another thread and add more facts.
Germany is counting on an alliance with Russia against the United States, their left openly declares this. Germany has a technological potential comparable to the United States, and Russia has raw materials, this alliance can kill America. Germany can bypass all the restrictions on the creation of weapons, if they begin to locate industry in Russia. And this has already happened under the Weimar Republic. This is exactly the scenario. They got around the restrictions.
They are working against the United States. Europe is the main left power, the USA is the main right power, they are direct enemies, all other players are only satellites.
In fact, Europe's participation in NATO is only nominal, they have not yet been allowed to create large armies, especially Germany. NATO is just a formal excuse for the US military presence in Europe.
_____________
Short story.
After the War, de facto American regime of control was established in Western Europe. This is clearly seen in the Bretton Woods financial system: the dollar covered European currencies, this is the de facto power of the empire over the colony, similar to the British Monetary Committee. Britain itself collapsed at this time.
Around the beginning of the 60s, a world coup, an oil embargo, coups in the USSR, the arrival of the left in the United States began, against this background, Europe threw off its oppression, it boycotted the dollar and created its own currency system. This was the first stage of her independence.
Since then, EU has played her game, and is almost independent of the United States. Europe is playing against the United States. That is why there was noise against the Nord Stream. This enhances the integration of Germany and Russia and enables Europe to regain dominance.
Europe is the main enemy of the United States. Inside the United States, they operate through the left, in foreign policy through satellites. This is a common British tactic and has always done it.
