When you go to apply for one. Now you may say that may not be for years BUT 2 million apply every year and it's kinda odd how no one is complaining they can't get their benefits because someone else is already claiming them.

Ohhh but they do. Illegals buy fake social security cards all the time. The numbers are made up. Very often they belong to someone else. I had a client whose social security number was being used by an illegal who died. The death was reported to social security. When my client applied, she was informed she was dead.

I had a woman using my social security number for 11 years. The only way we found out was the IRS audited me and ordered me to appear and bring evidence of my five children. Was she prosecuted? No. They gave her a new social security number.

You have no idea who could be using your social security number.
