Electric vehicles close to ‘tipping point’ of mass adoption

Really?

None of my vehicles have ever had a governor on them

Yeah, they have. You just never noticed. It's called gearing ratios. The manufacturers set them up with a fairly desultory gearing.
My Sienna van has 300 horsepower, but its top end is only about 110-120 thanks to the gear ratios they use.

That's not the same as a governor.

and why would you want to do 100 MPH in a Sienna anyway? Those things handle like the shoe boxes they are.

Gear ratios are set for the most efficient ratios for everyday driving

I used to have an RX 8 with 250 HP and that car would do 150 and that was scary as hell

The Sienna is one of the best handling vehicles out there. I have taken mine around Willow Springs several times and it is very fast!

You forget, I race. Speed isn't scary.

Major enough to sell 25 buses to Philly for $24 million.......buses gathering dust after less than a year.
Obviously they had a bad year or so and made some crap. And it sounds like they aren't being honest brokers when it comes to resolving the problem.

But 25 buses is a small order when it comes to muni deals in public transportation. These sales aren't slowing down either. More and more cities, counties, school districts, etc are going green with their fleet purchases.

Buses breaking down in less than a year, yeah, I guess you could call that crap.

Each battery-powered bus cost $150,000 more than a electric-hybrid model, but they require less maintenance, which will save money in the long-term.

How much money are they saving?

They have scientists and analysts who figure out that crap. Obviously the return on investment is solid, or they wouldn't continue to make these purchases.

Paid $150,000 extra, broke down in less than a year.....doesn't take a specialist to recognize that loss.

Obviously the return on investment is solid, or they wouldn't continue to make these purchases.

Hopefully Philly has learned their lesson and doesn't continue to make those purchases.

Meh, they will merely make BETTER EV purchases.

Bad year or so....

Classic leftist idiocy on display from Dr. Stupid.

15 charging stations close to where I live

Yes, 15 places to plug in across an area about 78-80 square miles by your map! In the middle of Vancouver, the most populous city in the province, competing against 630,000 other people who will also have EVs all out looking for charging stations, too.

That amounts to one charging station for every 42,000 people. :poke: I wouldn't exactly brag about that.

If I showed a map of gas stations near me in as wide an area, it would be a solid sea of red dots too numerous to count or display.

Well, given that you are a "Conservative", I am not surprised that you would have a problem checking on your battery level once in a while.
Oh really, Rockhead? Now you think conservatives have a "battery bias" or blockage? You really want to stick to that story? I keep my car lead acid battery on trickle charge all the time when the car is garaged. Other than that, I don't have to think about the battery really except every 10 years or so. And I only need worry about gas every few months.

Your EV with its 200 mile range, you will keep a running total of every time you drive the car to be sure you don't run out. It'll be in your head every time you need to go somewhere your miles left and whether you can make it out and back on your current charge. And you'll probably need to stop somewhere and wait around for it to recharge every few times you drive anywhere short of just getting a loaf of bread.

Again, I wouldn't exactly be bragging about that. :poke:

And what did you pay for that EV? I bought my car with CASH on the spot (a check really) and I got a V6 hemi with 300 HP, seats 5, with AC, power everything, power seat and pedals, leather interior, air bags, power moon roof, traction control, six CD changer sound system, cruise and much much more for a song, all in pristine condition, for less than 2 weeks take home pay.

That only makes the matter even worse. Any 3rd grader should be able to see that.

So you're asking, with your car beeping a flashing red light that it is running out of power that you might need to drive another half hour in traffic to find a charging station and hope there aren't already ten cars in line ahead of you? I can drive 1-3 minutes from my home right now and have a choice of at least SEVEN gas stations! That is 28 to 56 gas pumps!

And if I wanted, I could throw a 1-5 gallon can of gas in the back of my truck for an instant refill on the spot to get me out of a pinch.

You’re a clown. And you need to be reminded of that reality on a regular basis.

Ad hominem attack, eh, Glove? Pretty weenie reply to something you obviously have no legitimate response to! Anyone who points out the obvious truth that EV cars are either SUPER EXPENSIVE or super inconvenient (and potentially super dangerous) compared to gas cars make me a clown?

I thought questioning the fraud election did that?

Or pointing out that Joe Biddum is a befuddled old man who has trouble keeping track of where his shoes are! :auiqs.jpg:

How are EVs "potentially super dangerous" Tooby (this should be good)
Can't keep your eye on a power meter same as one would a gas gauge or something?
Joe knows where his shoes are - Not in his mouth :D

Now I suppose that you've somehow missed the dozen or so threads here of EVs spontaneously catching on fire incinerating the whole area? Why do you idiots insist on always painting yourselves as idiots? Or very bad liars. It is only a matter of time before stories start coming out of people getting killed in EV fires or them burning whole homes down with families in them.

I've never worried about my car in the garage "blowing up."

Glove, I beat you every time with one hand tied behind my back. Sorry if I've shot your EV car love in the heart with a little TRUTH.

Of course. But that meter only goes down every few months, not every few times I drive the car knowing that the nearest charging station is likely many miles away, in high demand by others and could require me to park and sit there a long time regardless of my personal needs and schedule (like trying to get to work).

And that is before even considering what electricity costs will be once everyone HAS to have electricity just to get from point A to point B. I'm sure the government and utilities will just love sticking it to you.

ANY car can catch on fire Loony Bird. Interestingly, we only hear about the Teslas

You gonna tell Amazon they shouldn't purchase 100,000 EV delivery vans?
I'm certain they'll listen

Yeah, because they are a waste of money, and an environmental nightmare.

But I actually have an education, and you are an anti science cult member.

NO, we DON'T just hear about Teslas, birdbrain, as witnessed by my last link to 82,000 HYUNDAIS recalled. Jesus are you an idiot or just a bad liar? But thanks for the Elon Musk promotional material, I'm sure it went over big with his BOD. BTW, has any story About a Tesla ever been false? No.

You see, idiot, when cars on the highway in a bad state of repair to where they are falling apart have their gas tanks fall down dragging on the highway at 60 MPH full of fuel, they are supposed to catch fire. It would be a miracle if they didn't. And probably, every car in your video survived to be fixed if they really wanted to, none of them incinerated at 2,000° melting the steel and the three cars parked beside it leaving a pile of melted black goo where a car once sat.

And far batter for the environment to have a little petrol catch fire than an entire car and its massive battery pack incinerate to smoke taking all the toxic compounds with it released into the air.

When I park my EV at the charging station or home in the garage at night, parked sitting there off in pristine new condition, they are NOT supposed to catch on fire.

I don't need no overpriced POS compact car incinerating and taking my home with it before I even get in and turn the key.

This will be your daily reminder that you are a clown. Honk Honk!!
