Elderly Grandfather Paralyzed by Police Beating

They picked him up and from his upright position slammed and drove this poor old man's head into the ground. That's attempted murder, plain and simple.

They picked him up and from his upright position slammed and drove this poor old man's head into the pavement. That's attempted murder, plain and simple.

His head went onto the grass. And the man was trying to pull away from them as the tried lawfully patting him down (for constantly sticking hands in pockets).

The DA charged the cop to appease cop haters.

The cop will be found not guilty. He'll sue for millions and win.

He'll earn more from the lawsuit than his next 20 years on the job would've paid him. The taxpayers just ensured that cop a big house in the country and an early comfortable retirement. Just have to get through some court hearings.

Odd...even the police now say it was because he put his hand in his pocket. Is that "resisting arrest" now?

That is a threatening action and he's damn lucky he didn't get SHOT; which he would have in many communities.

So now when you reach for your ID, you are fair game and pulling away when you are frail is not just shrinking in pain? :Boom2:

You shouldn't be reaching for anything until you're told to.

The other cop looks like he's joking with that officer while he is slamming the guy down. Why didn't they just handcuff the helpless man?

Already edited that. The force used was almost enough to fatally break his neck no matter what they slammed him into.

That's not true. When you are stopped by police on the street, you can reach for your ID anytime you want, unless they are telling you to "freeze" or something like that.

Yes, we must make sure that we gently place suspects on the ground. We must do everything we can to make them as comfortable as possible. We should start using handcuffs made out of satin as to not scuff up their wrists. Oh and pillows in the back of every squad car along with a refreshments.

Not if you're told to keep your hands out of your pockets, which is standard when confronting someone walking on the street.

So you think the guy wouldnt resist if they'd tried to cuff him?
Putting his hands in his pockets and pulling away is what got him in trouble.
Trying to cuff him would have resulted in the same thing.
Sucks it happened no doubt, but looking into peoples homes is going to raise suspicions no matter where you're from.

There is a disconnect there between "gently" and "slamming and driving."

How hard can a frail old man resist with two burly cops?

BTW, my bad... he was cuffed.

Maybe, he was dreaming of buying a home. When the cops came, they can plainly see there was nothing to the complaint.

Weak excuse.

Police get endless calls with all sorts of claims, since people call for things they THINK they have seen, and they can't be snatching just anyone off the street. The weak excuse was on the cop's part.

They could? How? He wasnt speaking English. And kept trying to walk away and kept sticking his hands into areas of concealment, aka pockets.

On face value...id be suspicious too. And id detain him until I knew he wasnt doing anything. ..and make sure no weapon was in those areas of concealment.

Thats called investigation. And the man resisted it.

From now on lets deploy a masseuse with cops so they can massage people into compliance when they dont obey lawful commands.

Cop has been charged with assault and arrested. He no is now online begging for funds to help defend himself in criminal and civil courts.

They never tried to use reason, and the officers contradict themselves about the language barrier. They admit Patel does not speak English but complain he won't listen.

Alabama police officer arrested after Indian grandfather left partially paralyzed - The Washington Post

One of the two police videos shows the officer holding Patel forcefully, pushing him to the ground. Patel, on the ground, is then told to “chill out” by one of the officers. The officer tells a third, approaching officer that Patel doesn’t “speak a lick of English,” and that they were trying to pat him down. “I don’t know what his problem is, but he won’t listen,” one of the officers adds.

"I don't know what his problem is" is almost exactly what George Zimmerman said.

George Zimmerman Police Call

Zimmerman: Somethings wrong with him. Yup, he's coming to check me out, he's got something in his hands, I don't know what his deal is.

And kept trying to walk away and kept sticking his hands into areas of concealment, aka pockets.

The police are not credible when they say he was trying to walk away, as we see in the video they keep complaining he's trying to walk away while in cuffs and when all they have to do is lead him on. Likewise, they are not credible about the hands in pocket routine.

If they are going to act on some unsubstantiated report, they need to take utmost care in doing it, especially with a frail old man walking quietly through the neighborhood.

On face value...id be suspicious too. And id detain him until I knew he wasnt doing anything. ..and make sure no weapon was in those areas of concealment.

The report the police were acting on did not even match Patel's description, and there was no need for the caller to follow the Indian man.

The department also released portions of audio and video pertaining to the incident. In a non-emergency call to police, a neighbor described Patel as a “skinny black guy” and said that he’d “never seen him before” in the neighborhood. Patel, he said, was “just wandering around” and “walking close to the garage.” The caller added that he was following Patel at a distance. When asked to estimate his age, the caller guessed Patel was in his 30′s.

Black and in his 30's is not even close.

They can search him
Thats called investigation. And the man resisted it.

He wasn't armed, and the cop has good reason to lie.

The FBI is investigating an incident in which an Indian grandfather’s encounter with police in Alabama left the man partially paralyzed. An officer involved in the incident is under arrest, and the police chief proposed that he be fired, police said Thursday.

From now on lets deploy a masseuse with cops so they can massage people into compliance when they dont obey lawful commands.

How about cops use appropriate force for what people's conditions are?

Yep. And hes gonna get them.
And hes gonna be found not guilty.

And he'll sue the DAs office and county for millions since hes being unjustly terminated and arrested. He'll win that too.

The move by DAs to appease cop haters with these arrests....are gonna cost taxpayers millions in lawsuits.

How did the cops know he wasnt armed....without searching him?

You're the Tom Brady of armchair quarterbacking.
