Education. Difference between democracy and CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC.

In a democracy, the 51 percent always rule the 49 percent. That's mob rule.

That's the difference.
that and that the constitution sets the rules and standards of what can even be voted on,,,

Not entirely true Owl. You’re talking about a direct democracy but that isn’t the only kind of democracy.

A democracy is a form of government that empowers the people to exercise political control, limits the power of the head of state, provides for the separation of powers between governmental entities, and ensures the protection of natural rights and civil liberties. In practice, democracy takes many different forms. Along with the two most common types of democracies—direct and representative—variants such as participatory, liberal, parliamentary, pluralist, constitutional, and socialist democracies can be found in use today.

Every tyrannical hellhole you ever heard of that sends representatives to some central location to go through the motions of governance is a republic. The big difference is in free elections and orderly transfers of power.

We are a representative democracy. We are organized as a constitutional republic.

Why do you keep jerking this chain?
Is it because you are comfortable with the rise of a theocratic dictatorship?

A constitutional republic is a state where the chief executive and representatives are elected, and the rules are set down in a written constitution.

How is that so different from a Representative Democracy or Constitutional Democracy?
maybe you should tell me how theyre the same when you take time off from your baby killing duties,,

better yet why dont you post the definition of those you say even exist,,

and the existence of a constitution,,

Firstly, "democracy,'' a popular type governance and an aspect of a Republican form of government must be properly distinguished between "a Democracy," which is a popular, antithetical form of government.

This is necessary and must be made clear in any discussion or writing for the sake of sound understanding of the fundamentals involved.

The chief characteristic and distinguishing feature of ''a Democracy'' is: Rule by Omnipotent Majority.

In ''a Democracy,'' The Individual, and any group of Individuals composing any Minority, have no protection against the unlimited power of The Majority. It is a case of Majority-over-Man.

This is true whether it be ''a Direct Democracy,'' or ''a Representative Democracy.''

A true Republic is constitutional by default. The phrase ''constitutional Republic'' is therefore a non sequitur.

See Federalist #51, by Madison, (for starters) for a better understanding of our "compound Republic."

As an aside, freedom has nothing to do with how people choose their rulers. Which is all ''democracy'' really is, applicably speaking. It's choosing your rulers.

The most omnipotent shadows of government aren't even elected.

Democracy does not ensure freedom. In fact, it more often destroys it.

The only theoretical advantage of democracy is that it might serve as a means for the masses to choose their rulers without a violent revolution.

Freedom can only exist by strictly limiting those who acquire power. It has nothing to do with how they acquire power. Which is why the constitution serves to strictly limit government, rather than limiting the electorate.

Problem with every democracy is they always morph into demagoguery.

The word democracy doesn't appear in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence for a reason.

Eventually The one political party or politician will gain support by promising free free free.

Watch the piece about Socrates and his views on how he predicted. He claimed Eventually one politician be likened to a sweet shop owner who would promise free feasts to everyone if elected, where his opponent would be likened to a doctor.

Just watch that piece. It's enlightening about political philosophy.

Sure, I have no problem assisting the mentally deficient.

Step 1: pull up your favorite search engine and type in “Constitutional Democracy”. Many choices will come up. Stay calm and select one.

Step 2: select one of the choices and click on it. This will bring up the page it is linked to.

Step 3: read it.

Example:

CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY is the antithesis of arbitrary rule. It is democracy characterized by:

A. POPULAR SOVEREIGNTY. The people are the ultimate source of the authority of the government which derives its right to govern from their consent.

B. MAJORITY RULE AND MINORITY RIGHTS. Although "the majority rules," the fundamental rights of individuals in the minority are protected.

C. LIMITED GOVERNMENT. The powers of government are limited by law and a written or unwritten constitution which those in power obey.

D. INSTITUTIONAL AND PROCEDURAL LIMITATIONS ON POWERS. There are certain institutional and procedural devices which limit the powers of government. These may include:

1. SEPARATED AND SHARED POWERS. Powers are separated among different agencies or branches of government. Each agency or branch has primary responsibility for certain functions such as legislative, executive, and judicial functions. However, each branch also shares these functions with the other branches.

2. CHECKS AND BALANCES. Different agencies or branches of government have adequate power to check the powers of other branches. Checks and balances may include the power of judicial review—the power of courts to declare actions of other branches of government to be contrary to the constitution and therefore null and void.

3. DUE PROCESS OF LAW. Individual rights to life, liberty, and property are protected by the guarantee of due process of law.

4. LEADERSHIP SUCCESSION THROUGH ELECTIONS. Elections insure that key positions in government will be contested at periodic intervals and that the transfer of governmental authority is accomplished in a peaceful and orderly process.

Next, follow the above only type “Representative Democracy” into your search engine.
