Ed Markey Beats Back Senate Challenge From Joe Kennedy

Kennedy felt he could “leverage” a Senate seat better than the progressive incumbent, but Massachusetts voters didn’t buy it.

"In one of the most widely watched Democratic primaries of the 2020 cycle, on Tuesday night 74-year-old Sen. Ed Markey cruised to victory against 39-year-old Rep. Joe Kennedy. The win represented the first time a Kennedy has ever lost an election in Massachusetts, Markey had a 10-point lead with 55 percent of the vote to Kennedy’s 45 percent, and Kennedy conceded the race."

Despite being outspent, despite being opposed by the likes of Nancy Pelosi and the corporate democrat establishment -- Ed Markey kicked their ass...this is especially sweet because Pelosi went against her own policy of "never challenge an incumbent" and challenged Ed Markey in favor of one of her own elitist corporate democrat types, Joe Kennedy III -- the result was, a ton of working class and young voters in Mass identifying more with the guy from a blue-collar background than they did with the guy born with a silver-spoon in his mouth.

It was nice to see Pelosi to get a slap in the face over this one.

When Kennedy was asked why he was running, he answered, "I can raise money". For far too many including Pelosi this is all it's about to them.

Money and power, screw caring about doing the right things.
