This is typically the case in matters like this. It needs to change. The law should require women who are discovered to have fabricated a rape or sexual assault accusation to be sent to prison under the same guidelines the accused would have been had the accusation been true.

I think that would make women LESS likely to report sexual assault.

As it is now, only 18% of adult women who are sexually assaulted report their assaults to police. Less than 3% of rapists ever spend any time in jail.

Knowing that you could go to jail if the police believe your attacker more than they do you, would make these figures worse.
