Don't forget the liberals created the USA
This is true to the extent liberals have always advocated the greatest possible government restrictions when it comes to privacy rights, search and seizure issues (law and order), and the comprehensive application of the Bill of Rights (incorporation doctrine). Liberals would rather allow a guilty man go free than convict an innocent man. Liberals are opposed to compromising our liberty for security.
This, then, was the original intent of the Framers: to err on the side of individual rights.
Conservatives, on the other hand, and for the most part, support greater government involvement in our private lives such as the abortion issue, opposition to same-sex marriage, and the conjoining on church and State in the public sector - such as religions documents in public buildings and advocating prayer in pubic schools.
Conservatives have also been hostile to First Amendment rights by advocating the banning of materials they consider offensive, advocating prior restraint with regard to publishing government information, and the restriction of rights to undocumented non-citizens.
The only time we see concern from the right with regard to government overreach is with Commerce Clause or similar issues. Pity conservatives cant be as concerned with individuals rights as the rights of corporations.
