Pushups are a bad strength test for two reasons.Actually, it's a pretty simple call. Just make everyone, male or female, pass the same physical fitness test. If 40 pushups, 40 situps, and a 2 miles in 16 minutes is good enough for men, it should be good enough for women.
1. They measure pound-per-pound strength not absolute strength
2. They are easy to cheat at.
Same thing with chin-ups.
