Probably few U.S. Christian denominations reject the Nicene Creed although only a relative few include it in their traditional liturgy. Several more include the Apostles Creed and some both. Probably most include The Lord's Prayer.i think most Christian religions do.
And my Catholic religion as well.
nice of you to do for the old folks FF........~S~The response of the residents was amazing
what is the difference between those two creeds?Probably few U.S. Christian denominations reject the Nicene Creed although only a relative few include it in their traditional liturgy. Several more include the Apostles Creed and some both. Probably most include The Lord's Prayer.
Many U.S. denominations and many conservative independent congregations utilize no creeds in their worship services, not even the Lord's Prayer that I miss if it is not part of the worship service. That doesn't mean they reject the concepts. They just don't recite them in their services.
I was once leading a worship at a locaL rehab/nursing home for one of the more modern congregations that utilized no creeds at all and had all modern worship songs and almost no traditional hymns. On an impulse I included the Lord's Prayer and Apostles Creed in the service. The response of the residents was amazing. All those old timers had grown up with those cherished creeds and they joined in enthusiastically. I became their favorite volunteer teacher because I did the more traditional service as opposed to the more unconventional modern service that has become popular.
Just one more bit of evidence that what we all prefer in worship can be different even when we agree on most of the basics of Christianity.
Thanks. It was part of the church's outreach ministry and gave me an opportunity to serve. The services at the facility were well attended every Sunday with a team of church members taking turns leading those services. I don't know if the other church members approved of those most time proven traditional services I led, but the residents sure did.nice of you to do for the old folks FF........~S~
what is the difference between those two creeds?
i think they dont contradict another
the differences are subtle FF .......the father,son& holy spirit reading like separate entities in one......and one in the other.......~S~There are some differences but I agree, they do not contradict each other.
Here are my thoughts on the creeds mentioned below.There are some differences but I agree, they do not contradict each other.
I agree with this.
I believe that Jesus Christ was the only Son of God the Father in the flesh. However, I believe Jesus was the firstborn son of God the Father in the spirit and all of us are children of God, ie the offspring of God, in the spirit. We are all brothers and sister of Jesus in the spirit and God the Father is the Father of all our spirits.I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of the Father in the flesh. I do believe the Holy Ghost had a hand in impregnating the virgin Mary with the seed of the Father but the Holy Spirit is not the Father of Jesus Christ:who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
I agree with this if buried implies being placed in a cave.and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
Jesus did go among the spirits of the dead to preach his gospel after his death. In 1 Peter 3 it states that he went among the spirits in prison.he descended to hell.
I agree with this.The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I agree with this.I believe in the Holy Spirit,
I don't believe the Catholic Church is the church of Jesus Christ.the holy catholic* church,
I agree with this.the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
I don't believe that God is a single being. I believe that there is a godhead of which the head God is our Father in Heaven, but that Jesus is also a God and member of the godhead who is a separate and distinct being and person than the Father. I also believe that the Holy Ghost is a separate and distinct being and person and is also a member of the godhead. The three of them represent the one true God.Growing up Methodist, we all had that one memorized. While I still have a lot of good memories with the Methodists, I left that denomination as an official member when I was 20 though.
The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
I would say that it was the will of the Father that heaven and earth be created but that he delegated this task specifically to his firstborn son Jesus Christ who was a member of the godhead.the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
Again, I believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God in the flesh. In the spirit, Jesus is the Firstborn Son of God and the all the rest of us are literal children of God in the spirit. We are the spirit brothers and sisters of Jesus and the literal offspring of the Father (see Acts 17:28-29). Jesus' spirit was born before all of our spirits were born and if he is the creator of all things that were made, then he was born of the Father as a spirit before other things were created. Jesus became a member of the godhead from the beginning so I can agree with most of this but do believe that we too are the offspring of God (see Acts 17).I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
I believe Jesus' spirit and body are begotten of the Father. I do not believe that Jesus' spirt is the same being as the Father's. The Father does not have the same body either that Jesus has. So I do not agree that they are of the same substance. I believe that our spirits are made of a more refined matter and that we cannot see them but that they are made of a substance. I do not believe that the substance of Jesus' spirit or body are the same substance of the Father's spirit or body. It can be the same kind of substance but not the exact substance of each other. Jesus is not the same being as God our Eternal Father in Heaven and our Eternal Father in Heaven is not the same being as Jesus. They are separate and distinct beings and persons who are one only in the same way that we all can become one with the Father and Jesus as mentioned in John 17:begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
I agree with this.through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
Again, I believe that the Holy Spirit was instrumental in having the Virgin Mary become pregnant but Jesus was not the offspring of the Holy spirit but is the offspring of God the Eternal Father.and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
I agree with this as well.and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. I don't believe that the Holy Ghost is the giver of life in and of Himself. It was the Son who created all things and when we are born, our pre-mortal living spirits enter our mortal bodies. However, the Holy Ghost is a member of the godhead and is a revealer of truth and is able to enter our bodies and give us direct testimony from God of his existence and truths. That is why his gift is the unspeakable gift of the Holy Ghost. The rest of what is mentioned I can agree with.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
Again, I do not believe the Catholic Church to be the true church of Jesus Christ. I do however believe that the church of Jesus Christ should have apostles and prophets until we all come to the unity of the faith.I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I can agree with this.I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
LDS?Here are my thoughts on the creeds mentioned below.
I agree with this.

Acts 27:28-29
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of the Father in the flesh. I do believe the Holy Ghost had a hand in impregnating the virgin Mary with the seed of the Father but the Holy Spirit is not the Father of Jesus Christ:
John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
I agree with this if buried implies being placed in a cave.

John 1:1-3
1 In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God (the Father), and the Word (Jesus) was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God (the Father).
3 All things were made by him (Jesus); and without him (Jesus) was not any thing made that was made.
14 And the Word (Jesus) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
I agree with this.

Ephesians 4:11-15
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
How many churches do we see apostles and prophets in today? Have all come to a unity of the faith and of a knowledge of the son of God unto the perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ? If not, then where are the apostles and prophets?
I can agree with this.
Yes.LDS?
I allow and respect others in their beliefs and would never try to shake your faith even though I am not and never will be LDS. We all share things in common. We all differ at least a bit in our theology.Yes.
i think most Christian religions do.
And my Catholic religion as well.
The Nicene Creed is a foundational statement of Christian belief, affirming the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) and the divine nature of Jesus Christ, developed at the Councils of Nicaea (325 AD) and Constantinople (381 AD) to combat heresies like Arianism, and is recited in major Christian traditions (Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant) to define core doctrines of God, Jesus's divinity, the Spirit, the Church, and salvation, differing slightly in "I believe" vs. "We believe" and the Filioque clause in the West.
