Trump Airs a House Republican’s Terminal Diagnosis, Claiming to Have Reversed It

For weeks on Capitol Hill, there had been quiet murmurs about the health of an ailing veteran House Republican, Representative Neal Dunn of Florida, and whether he would be able to serve out the duration of his term because of what was rumored to be a grave diagnosis.

On Monday, at a news conference called to discuss the Kennedy Center, President Trump aired the quiet part out loud, claiming credit for having saved Mr. Dunn’s life in an unusual and at times uncomfortable exchange that publicly laid out the congressman’s formerly private prognosis in new detail.

The subject came up as Mr. Trump was praising Speaker Mike Johnson, who was seated to his right, for his ability to push through legislation even with a razor-thin majority in the House. That margin — Republicans can afford no more than one defection on party-line votes when all members are voting — was further endangered, Mr. Trump said, by one member who appeared likely to die.

Don has previously said god saved him to MAGA.

'I was saved by God to make America great again,' Trump says of July shooting

Now he is saving individuals too? I see a potential business opportunity here. People of means will pay quite a bit to have their life extended. This could be more lucrative than the crypto biz. Okay, maybe not. He's made billions.

D's could be in trouble when the midterms come if Don asks for divine intervention. Like the burning bush perhaps the cloud fairy could set ballots cast for D's on fire. I don't know, trump will have to decide.

He has saved a lot of people. He is the Lord and Savior.

“So, long story short,” Mr. Johnson said, pushing ahead, Mr. Trump had been able to connect Mr. Dunn, 73, to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Since then, Mr. Dunn “has a new lease on life” and “acts like he’s 30 years younger.”
Mr. Trump seemed pleased by the turnaround, adding later that he had been horrified to learn of Mr. Dunn’s initial diagnosis.

“Number one, it was bad because I liked him,” Mr. Trump said. “Number two, it was bad because I needed his vote.”

“I did it for him first and the vote second,” the president said, adding: “But it was a close second.”

I'm so glad he found the time between starting wars and bashing Joe Kent.

Remember Trump shared an artificially created video of himself promoting a cure-all bed with origins in conspiratorial corners of the internet?

The video, which has since been deleted, was intended to resemble a Fox News segment on the show hosted by the president’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump, featured an AI version of Trump promising access to new medical technology.

“Every American will soon receive their own medbed card,” said the false rendering of Trump. “With it, you’ll have guaranteed access to our new hospitals led by the top doctors in the nation, equipped with the most advanced technology in the world.”

The “medbed” conspiracy theory has spread during recent years in QAnon circles online.

And Trump's dumb ass saw the video, liked it and re tweeted it.

At the same time he was also raising the prices of real healthcare and people were losing their real insurance.

The QAnon conspiracy theory movement emerged in 2017, and some in those circles have long believed Trump would make available this supposed secret miracle-curing technology.

In the artificial video Trump posted and then deleted, he touts the benefits of the supposed therapy.

“These facilities are safe, modern and designed to restore every citizen to full health and strength,” the false Trump said. “This is the beginning of a new era in American healthcare.”

And Trump re tweeted this? Time to put grampa to bed

Dood. Lay off the narcotics.

When I see a story like this, with trump acting all grandiose and delusional, I typically ask myself what the reaction would have been if Biden declared himself to possess the power to heal? It would have set right wing media on fire.

People would point and laugh because Biden couldn't recall his name, let alone claim some grandiose omniscience.

I'm not a fan of Trump's bragging, but his polices for the most part have been spot on.

Resetting this hemisphere's influence back to us is a master stroke against China, and with Iran, both China and Russia will feel that.

This may have just reset the inevitable confrontation of the US and China and pushed that back a hundred years.

So, yeah, I'll tolerate a little bragging. At least Trump hasn't defeated Medicare!

Absolutely! It was only his wisdom that spared people more Covid deaths by sipping bleach and disinfectant.

It goes through air, Bob. That's always tougher than the touch. You know, the touch - you don't have to touch things, right? But the air, you just breathe the air. That's how it's passed. And so that's a very tricky one. That's a very delicate one. It's also more deadly than your - you know, your - even your strenuous flus.

The president repeats, it's many times more deadly than the flu. That was early February, after he'd been briefed on the most serious threat of his presidency. Later in February, the stock market started to slide. And on February 26, at a public news briefing, the president waved off the threat.

TRUMP to the public: It's going to disappear one day. It's like a miracle. It will disappear.

TRUMP: Now I guess we're at 26 deaths. And if you look at the flu, the flu for this year, - we're looking at 8,000 deaths. And, you know, hundreds of thousands of cases - we have 8,000 deaths. So you have 8,000 versus 26 deaths at this time.

He knew it was more deadly than the Flu!!!

TRUMP: It's also more deadly than your - you know, your - even your strenuous flus.

INSKEEP: In late March, after the country shut down, the president spoke to Bob Woodward again. And though he did not say he lied in that Washington Post audio, he admitted playing down what he knew.

(SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING)

TRUMP: I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down...

BOB WOODWARD: Yes, sir.

TRUMP: ...Because I don't want to create a panic.

Well, these were his top national security people in the White House. His national security adviser, Robert O'Brien, was telling Trump that this virus will be the biggest national security threat you face in your presidency. That's practically a quote. Another top national security adviser, Matt Pottinger, warned that the threat was comparable to the 1918 Spanish flu, which killed as many as 50 million people. Trump was also having conversations with Chinese President Xi Jinping about the extent of the virus in China and all the work they were doing. But publicly here in the United States, he was comparing the virus, as you noted, to the flu and saying it would go away.

The president and his staff argue they have been truthful. But, clearly, there were conflicting messages, and I think you see that in the visceral reaction from many in the public. And, look; we have reported that many Americans were already unhappy, and polling showed they felt the administration handled the response poorly. So this adds to that.

INSKEEP: How did the president's misleading stance affect people who believed him?

ORDOÑEZ: Well, I mean, it's not necessarily breaking news that the president was downplaying the virus early on. We reported that - about his kind of rosier assessment of the response to the virus for months and his reluctance, for example, to pressure people to wear masks. What had ended up happening is that these public health measures that, you know, scientists - his own scientists were recommending kind of became viewed through a political lens. There were even polls that showed a clear divide between those who wore masks and those who didn't, and they were on political lines.

JOE BIDEN: He knowingly and willingly lied about the threat it posed to the country for months. He had the information. He knew how dangerous it was. And while this deadly disease ripped through our nation, he failed to do his job on purpose.

People would point and laugh because Biden couldn't recall his name, let alone claim some grandiose omniscience.
Did you mean omnipotence? Cuz that's essentially the power trump claims to possess.

You may find your posts are more effective when you use the right words. Like not saying excursion when meaning incursion to describe the Iran misadventure.

I didn't see, in Mr. Alpaca farts's link, that Trump claimed to reverse anything.

Looks like more 99% pure bullshit.
