Does Debt Really Matter

It worked. And where it is now, it still works. We had a wall in California well ahead of Trump being president.
If the wall is so bad why do both Presidential candidates support it? That is about the only issue they both agree on however uneducated Democrats seem to not know this.

Why ask why? Just accept the facts that we had a surplus under Clinton and the budget was balanced.

I ask why because I want to know why you think he had a surplus?

Actually, no. Trump added 8.4 Trillion and Biden added 4.3 trillion.

Actually, yes. There was $7.8 trillion more debt the day Trump left compared to the day he started.
Biden has already added over $8 trillion. With no recession and a super-duper economy.

Why is Biden so much worse than Trump? With 3 months of debt yet to go.

Because it's a fact? 🤷‍♀️

Nope 4.3 Trillion. Just accept it.

Trump doesn't have "10 year debt", sorry. Neither does Biden.

$19.95 trillion to $27.75 trillion. $7.8 trillion added under Trump.

$27.75 trillion to $35.77 trillion. $8 trillion added under Biden, so far.

I have read tons of articles and the economy doesn’t happen a vacuum, the Great Recession had many reasons it happened and it had lots of people, from Democrats to Republicans, lots of reason and lots of blame all around.

I don’t blame Presidents for the economy because there are tons of factors and it is out of there control, they alone don’t have that kind of power, 9% inflation wasn’t Biden’s fault, nor were the great gains he made during 2021 but coming out of a pandemic was the reason, he was just President, Trump had he been elected would have seen those numbers and the subsequent inflation.

Time magazine produce made a list of those you can blame for 2008, 25 People to Blame for the Financial Crisis - TIME
You can click on each person and read why and how they were blamed, not that you are interested in being fair about the issue, but we need ignorant right and left wing partisanship to divide the country and you have done it well. Thank you.

Republicans controlled the white house, senate and congress for the first 7 years (2001-2007) of Bush's administration, but evil democrats are equal parts to blame for the recession? Ok. I don't absolve democratic leaders, but the fact still remains that republicans were in full control of the government for virtually the entirety of Bush's reign. If it had been the other way around I would put 100% of the blame on democrats.

Trump was responsible for losing 48,000 manufacturing jobs a year before the pandemic even hit. In addition to adding 2 trillion to the deficit from tax cuts that did nearly nothing. In contrast Biden has created 800,000 manufacturing jobs, far exceeding the 178,000 lost due to covid. You're telling me a man who thinks tariffs are a tax on the country importing goods into the US would have done the same? To this day, when asked about the rising costs of grocery prices and daycare, Trump still double downs on tariffs and drilling in reply those citizen concerns. This is a moron, who lost 400 million dollars of his father's inheritance and is now selling Trump watches, sneakers, mugs and hats to make money. This is who would have had the same numbers as Biden? Yeah, I don't think so. I think we would have been in serious trouble right now. For someone who is so concerned about the deficit, there is definitely some cognitive dissonance going on here. Trump is responsible for 8.4 trillion on the deficit. That's more than any president in history, for a 4 year term.

Trump didn't claim to be the king of debt for nothing.

I’ll go with what most experts say and ignore your partisan bullshit.

Riiiight. You're not partisan at all! ;)
Hey guys, partisan acrimony is fun but we really need to fix this debt thing.

Let's first consult on this w/ mutual respect, get a better understanding, fix the problem, and then we can get back to our food fight. We can list the things that we can agree on:
  1. we want a government --let's not get into whether we think it can be better just yet.
  2. we want some debt 'cause the gov't can borrow a lot cheaper than we can for taxes.
  3. we don't want to much debt cause then we spend too much on interest.
  4. the amount of debt's at an all time high but so is the population.
  5. the amount of debt may be a problem but the interest we pay is a bigger problem.
  6. interest rates are going up and the interest the govt pays is now more than defense.
  7. we have to cut spending.
So we cut spending. Most of our money goes to "social programs" so that's probably where the biggest hit goes. Once we're free then we can go back to blaming each other.

1. We agree that spending MUST be cut. I'm optimistic that Elon Musk would do a good job slimming down the Federal government, eliminating "fraud, waste, and abuse". IF congress goes along with his recommendations.

2. The Federal Budget exploded because of Covid, but never went down AFTER Covid. This is where $Trillions can be saved.

Biden’s 2025 Budget is $7.30T with a $1.8T deficit______TOTAL BIDEN $6.9T
Biden’s 2024 Budget was $7.30T with a $2.0T deficit
Biden's 2023 Budget was $6.13T with a $1.7T deficit
Biden's 2022 Budget was $6.27T with a $1.4T deficit
Trump's 2021 Budget was $6.82T with a $2.8T deficit___ TOTAL TRUMP $7.6T
Trump's 2020 Budget was $6.55T with a $3.1T deficit
Trump's 2019 Budget was $4.40T with a $0.9T deficit
Trump's 2018 Budget was $4.10T with a $0.8T deficit

3. My "break glass" budget item to cut is Welfare. That $1.3T line item should be sent back to the States who can put people to work for their benefits.

4. It is possible to get to a surplus, but Congress never does it. In addition to the above cuts of $1T - $2T, revenue can be raised by eliminating the Capital Gains tax break, putting everyone on SS & Medicare, no exceptions, taking SS & Medicare deductions from all income, I'd also add a "Transaction Tax" on all financial transactions.

1. Isn't Elon the dummy who paid tens of billions more for Twitter than it was actually worth? That acquisition is bleeding him dry 100s of millions of dollars a year.

2. Nope. Trump is responsible for 8.4 trillion and Biden is responsible for 4.3.

3. I wonder what was your "break glass" budget plane when Trump was driving up the deficit like a mad man.

I would say, THAT the first we need to do to fix out debt is to not vote in the guy who has proclaimed himself, the "king of DEBT."

LOL!!! OK, so we're both together on the fact that we need to cut spending on social programs?

Not with the economy, I didn’t blame Biden for inflation, and if I did it was in threads when partisan dumbasses want to give Biden credit for the economy for the rebound economy from Covid.

The economy has so many moving parts and so many factors out of the Presidents control, the link I shared with you proved that but hey, I don’t care if you want to be ignorant and work for your master.
