Simple Question but to clarify:

Do you think you would benefit from the government taking all of the money from the Billionaire class so that there were no Billionaires (reduce their wealth to $999M) and using it in programs (which include free health care, free college tuition, paying of student debt, universal income for all, etc..,

Keep in mind that all of the Billionaires in the US amount to 40% of the country's wealth.

Since you put it that way, sure.

  • Bill Gates: $106 billion.
  • Warren Buffett: $80.8 billion.
  • Mark Zuckerberg: $69.6 billion.
  • Larry Ellison: $65 billion.
  • Larry Page: $55.5 billion.
  • Sergey Brin: $53.5 billion.
  • Michael Bloomberg: $53.4 billion.

It is not "the country's wealth."

What makes anyone think said billionaires would not move their assets out of reach should the Democrats attempt such folly?

Well, what happens when all that wealth is pissed away? Does anyone really think any of these billionaires would continue making millions to give away?

So all I need to do is vote Democrat and they will confiscate 99% of all billionaire wealth? I have a bit of a problem with the government doing that to anyone, regardless how rich they are.

I don't think 40% effective rate would move much money, but the 90% I keep hearing about definitely would. I'm not saying it's the "country's wealth" (although it did :)). I mean the net worth of the country en total. Thanks for the clarification. Messed that up. :(

Thanks for making my point. I haven't posted my point, but I'm curious to see what others think.

Isn't that what people are debating in the Billionaire thread - we shouldn't have any?

Maybe we shouldn't have geniuses either. Everyone should be within some agreed upon standard deviation from the "norm". Make America Mediocre.

Level the playing field = socialism, mediocrity, shared misery, and Boring conversations when everyone is required to comply with social speech regulations (read tyranny)

I love the loss of freedom that it would give me.

If the choice is annexing Switzerland to get access to stashed cash, or defaulting, I'd annex Switzerland temporarily, get the US cash owed, then leave.
