If EVERYONE took responsibility to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus ... for “only” ONE MONTH by adhering to strict 3-M guidelines (masks, social distancing, hand washing before touching face), would we not beat the pandemic nationally with our borders closed?
Of course, we would need to do a strict “lockdown”, but it would be cost-effective in the long run, like taking 1 step backwards before taking 2 or 3 steps forward.

That would not stop the spread of the disease, it would only delay the spread. After the one month was up and life went back to normal, the spread would continue unabated. You have two choices with something like this, shut down indefinitely hoping a medical prevention or treatment will emerge or balance the need for people to live their lives and manage the spread the best you can, knowing that you cannot totally prevent infections.

I KNOW I'LL REGRET ASKING THIS BUT just how do you talk "everyone" into wearing masks for a month, never coming within 6 feet of others (or is it 20 feet?) for a month, and washing hands before touching face for a month? I sometimes need to touch my face 20-30 times an hour! Watering eye, tickling nose-- -- what if you are out on the floor working and you need to touch your eye? Maybe an eyelash in it or something? Going to stop and run 75 feet to a washroom and wash your hands?

And does washing your hand guarantee total freedom from germs? What about touching the mask? People wearing masks touch them every 2 minutes adjusting them to keep them on their face! So you are touching stuff with your hands with germs and viruses on them then touching the mask putting germs and virus all over it, then it touches your face, or you touch it then rub your eye.

How are you going to stop every unconscious, involuntary time you touch your face, mouth, nose, or ear without even thinking about or being aware of it just out of habit?

So how are you going to do all of that PLUS ensure that EVERYONE complies 24/7? Put everyone in a concentration camp? Lock them in their rooms? Cubicles with a camera on you all day? Police supervision over every single person? Anyone coming out of their home gets shot?

I just love how the Left dreams up these impossible, idealistic plans to destroy a nation that won't even work!

You dont know much about viruses, do you. Masks and distancing only slow the rate of infections for a time, about a month in most cases. This is done to evaluate the virus and find ways to treat the infections that are coming your way.

You can not stop the spread. Only a fool believes that they can stop a viral infection without reaching natural herd immunity levels and even then there will be residual outbreaks of the virus.

If EVERYONE adhered to the medical advice, and contact tracing was used to contain the spread (if there were miscues), how would the virus continue spreading beyond control within locked borders?
