Do not mistake this thread as a defense of Putin. Putin is a very bad actor and no one denies that. But evil needs enablers especially if the enabling is through incompetence. Do you remember Saddam Hussein? Hussein was very useful to the US as a counterbalance to Iran. That was until George HW Bush deployed ambassador April Glaspie to Iraq to find out out why Hussein was massing troops along Kuwait's borders.

Glaspie was instructed to handle Hussein with kid gloves. She then made one of the most moronic statements ever uttered in professional diplomatic service. As Hussein was preparing to invade Kuwait she told him that the US has no opinion on Arab-Arab conflicts which was interpreted by Hussien as a green light to take Kuwait which he quickly did.

The elder Bush then went before the American people as if he had nothing to do with invasion and said: "This will not stand!" That led to the Gulf War which was the prime motivator for the attacks on the world Trade Center after Bush the younger tried to cover for his father by attacking Iraq which had nothing to do with the NYC attacks.

Both Bush's should have spent their remaining days in solitary confinement at Guantanamo Bay but we know that did not happen. So Biden is not the first incompetent president to occupy the White House and the way our government works he won't be the last unless of course, we all die in a nuclear holocaust.
