Do you prefer playing sports, or going to the gym for exercise? Or a mixture of both?

I have been doing mostly gym and weight lifting solo the past year, but am thinking of trying out some team sports. As a hobby to stay fit and meet people. I guess changing things up can help with motivation, also if you have a coach or teacher or group of friends to train with you are more likely to stay consistent

I'd love to do both. Meh, Canada.

Going to the gym can increase strength and endurance, but playing sports improves coordination and it a fun way to get into shape.

In my age group (over 65...well over 65), many people are getting a bit of exercise for the first time in their adult lives, through the wonderful pursuit of Pickle-Ball. But of course, one cannot "get in shape" simply by playing that game, but it helps many, just as it results in countless minor injuries to bodies not accustomed to vigorous activity.

My personal conditioning is promoted by 2 or 3 sessions per week of stretching, weight lifting, and cardio, supplemented by a bit of H.I.I.T. on a bike or stationary bike. I also golf and bowl, but they don't add anything to my physical conditioning.

No tennis any more, and definitely no Pickle Ball.

I did a lot of heavy laboring up to the time I turned sixty, I stopped working out at thirty. My physical condition allows me to run up and down hallways and stairs to do maintenance in hotels.

I love to golf and also enjoy going to the gym. I also love to swim.

Gym. I’m terrible at sports

Why no Pickle Ball? Bad knees?
Sorry to be an elitist, but pickle-ball is a faux sport for people who cannot play tennis - a real sport. Also, my last several years of tennis was just a succession of bouncing from one injury to another - play for a few months then take a month off for a hamstring strain - play for a few months then take a month for a shoulder injury, and on and on. It would be the same with Pickle Ball.

You are just jealous. :)
Even if that was you, that’s not the look I aim for.

I’m a powerlifter and that’s a chiseled pretty boy.

Which is fine, and he obviously worked hard for his impressive physique, but again not my thing and not really compatible with my body frame anyhow

Best exercise is cross country walking in NV, UT, and AZ with overnights. Can still cover 50 miles on foot over a weekend.
