When you are at a social gather of any type (wedding, family gathering, work party, church etc.) would your rather try to find someone to talk to and figure out what to say, or, are you OK with just sitting there until someone comes up and talks to you?

I hate idle chit chat conversations and I do not seek out people to talk to and if no one has a conversation while I am at a wedding or Christmas Party the better...

What do you hate about idle chit chat? Why dont you seek out people to talk to?

I am anti-social and really do not care for knowing how the kids are... I know that come off rude but that is how I am...

Bingo. This is actually the secret to talking to people. I could find out a lot about you because most people have an instinctual need to talk about themselves and things they find interesting.

Because you are human. You are a social animal. Sometimes it is ok not to talk and not initiate but when someone does talk its on you to make sure it goes as well as it can.

Only if it's deep and personal. I don't care how many purses or shoes someone owns, if they got a new car, I want to know about THEM and their DEEP FEELINGS and issues... I give two shits where their kids go to school etc.
