But yeah we were speaking about birds and parrots and has anybody ever seen that movie Paulie about the bird who can actually talk like a human and comprehend speech?

Buy a pet from a pet shop and you are paying people to be cruel to animals.
So he's transgender now? Or a dragcoon.
Animals are tuned in and only see the spirit.
Animals don't care if you are rich or poor, tall or thin, all they see is the soul.
That is how they know you are home before you come through the door.
That is why some dogs growl at strangers.

Nope.
But I heard of a parrot that started to mimic the baby crying. The couple had to get rid of the bird because they couldn't tell the difference.
Interesting question. It must take a very tortured soul to want to end up working for the federal postal service. So all mailmen are evil?
I never saw a mail man deliver me anything I ever really wanted.I never saw a dog like a mail man.
Agree. I’ve adopted five cats (not all of them together…..over my 45 years of adulthood) from animal shelters. They all have been wonderful pets, and there is no reason to buy a pet from a store - thus encouraging the practice of selling them - when there are so many animals needing a home.My Mocha (My Pittie) was adopted. I would never buy a dog/cat or any pets from a Pet store. I agree, you never put a price on pets.
I think Pet shops should just sell pet food, treats and toys. That's all.

My last one was a stray rescued after a street fight, and he was a “project” for the first couple of months. But now he is an affectionate, loving companion.
I understand your point. Thanks.I want to agree with you Lisa, all of my pets have been rescues except one taken from a friend of the family (I suppose that makes him a rescue too), but my only fear is that this then makes innocent pets taken to be sold at pet stores a death sentence if no one buys them there and that too then becomes a sort of rescue.
I would recommend rescues first because their time is most limited if not adopted, but just take a pet, any good pet, wherever you find them. The most important thing is that they just find a good home.
I don't. I don't think that a price tag should go on a life and adoption fees are different. You wouldn't sell your child and buy one would you so why would you buy a pet when you can easily adopt one (or multiple) that needs a home?
I would rather see people paying for pets and caring for them properly than just taking in strays and letting the breed indiscriminately.

/----/ I feed my bald eagle my neighbors' yappy little pocket dogs. Not a bird guy...wouldn't have a clue what to do with it or even how to feed it.
Huh? My parents took in a young stray, had her spayed, and took good care of her for 17 years.I would never buy a pet from a pet shop. I would go to a breeder if I wanted a purebred animal.
All of my pets have been rescues, except the horses.
My grey tabby came to me when her owner moved to an apartment where she could only have 2 pets. She had 5 cats and a dog. My cat had just died so I took one.
My other cat was deceased cat’s best friend. Her owner got a dog and she snuck in my house and stayed. Her former owner passed away so she’s my cat now.
My daughter’s two kittens came from a neighbour who was feeding a pregnant stray. She found homes for the babies.
The cat rescue has a store in a local mall. That cats are around $100 but they have all their shots and they’re neutered. I spent $600 on my “free” kitten getting him all his shots, bloodwork and having him neutered.
