Both Manchin and Sinema have been intimidated nonstop by the left regarding their votes. Now Sinema's largest political contributor is threatening to cut off financial support unless Sinema votes the way the contributor wants. Is this the way we want our country to run? Do we want our representatives to just vote based on who contributes the most money to them? Do we want to take democracy away by selling it to the highest bidder? Or, do we want representatives who stand up to the rich and powerful and vote their conscience, even it it disagrees with those trying to intimidate them to vote a certain way? Do we want our representatives to be bought and paid for? Do we want our democracy taken away by the left?

If this keeps up, I believe first in real local elections and then spreading real nasty people will run and win that take no crap.

No not at all ,but would hope there reasons would make sense not just supporting the money that feeds them.

I don't know much about politics in Arizona, but I would venture a guess that a progressive candidate on the democratic side will likely not do as well as Sinema will in the 2024 general, for the simple reason that I think the progressive agenda is not popular there. So, if they primary her out of office then they might well lose the seat to the GOP. And anyway she is not up for reelection until then, but none of that matters to the crazies on the Far Left though, they'll go after her from now until doomsday. She seems to be just as much a maverick as McCain was.

Politicians should vote in accordance to:

1. Their Oath of Office
2. In the Best interests of their Constituents
3. In the Best interest of the Country.

However, political contributors are free to contribute or not contribute to who ever they want. If they feel that Sinema no longer stands for what they believe in, then they should stop the contributions.

Sinema will probably switch to the Republican party in 2024.

That is why campaign finance reform is so important.

As long as there are big donors there will be politicians that do as they are told by those who bought them.

Geez, I hope they didn't pay much for Sinema!

Maybe they should ask for a refund.

When companies or corporations donate large amounts of money to a candidate, do you actually believe they have no ulterior motive?

Of course they do, which is why they should get a refund.

As Mark Twain said:

"We have the best Congress money can buy"

Both of them made their own beds here. I believe the reasons that both of them are clinging to their "moderate" beliefs is that, 1) They want to run for President in 2024. 2) They are both beholden to high dollar value (ie conservative) institutions and donors. In other words, they've already done what you are complaining about here. They've already sold out.

I know Manchin wants to run for President. If he goes down as one of the people who stood by while Republicans and conservative interests try to rig the voting (happens when you have no fresh policy ideas or direction) in their favor, that will never happen.
As it stands, both of them are damaged. If they both want to be Republicans, they can go ahead and do that. The backlash will be enormous. Their political careers would be over. Republicans would primary them the first chance they got.

Most of the time, IMHO the senators and representatives vote according to what their constituents tell them AND they listen to their donors especially the big money ones. The pols on both sides realize where the dynamite is that'll get them kicked out of office and mostly they avoid it. Regarding the filibuster, I don't know what Sinema's people are telling her, maybe they're telling her that she doesn't have to run for re-election until 2024 and by then saving the filibuster may be the best thing for her career in the long run. Maybe they're telling her that Arizona is about to go Red and voting to end the filibuster will probably get her voted out of her job. Or maybe she just thinks that voting to keep the filibuster is the right thing to do even if she is otherwise a liberal democrat. Maybe she just doesn't like the obvious hypocrisy of the democratic party's staunch position against ending the filibuster when the GOP was is power but now they want it for themselves. Or maybe it's a combination of those possibilities.

The Democrat Party is a crazy cult that will not tolerate any dissension.
The Cult will primary Manchin and Sinema apostates in their next election.
Schumer is a real threat to our democracy.
If Schumer abolishes the filibuster and passes the HR1 bill it will give the corrupt far left extremist totalitarian cult permanent control.
America will become a one party police state like Venezuela.
People will starve and suffer.

These people can't even adequately explain why they are working against their party and constituents. Betrayal will always have a political cost.

Yes, I want them to be unable to sleep at night and live in terror of what we might do to them if they screw us over ...

... they would be ever so much more motivated to do their jobs to our benefit, not their own.

I would vote for Manchin. It's about time we had people in office who don't just follow the collective.
