Do we deserve to survive? We'll see.

Well the free market created a situation where china was able to take this manufacturing away from us due to price. The American consumer could have prevented this by continuing to buy american quality but they did not do that they went for cheap pricing instead. There were those in government that saw the writing on the wall and wanted governemnt intervention how ever that party back then was not inteested in intervention they wanted the market to decide. Now we have a situation where we no longer have infrastructure in place to produce he things we need. Medical supplies, weapons and other items needed by the military need to be protected.

Trade with chinese should have stopped as soon as the USSR fell, they were the obvious next in line competitors to us for global hegemony.

The problem isn't American buying habits, it's American policy that allowed the Chinese to grow like this. When we should have cut them off the minute the cold war ended.

It's a simple policy problem that could have been very easily dealt with in 1990, can still be dealt with in 2020, just with more pain. The most positive thing about this corona virus is it gives our elites an obvious way to enact rational economic policy with geopolitical reasons.

Buying cheap shit from Vietnam wouldn't be a problem
