Do All Republicans Have to Think Alike?

Just something that I was just thinking about. Not all democrats think alike as some are progressive and some are moderate so why do all Republicans have to think the same or suddenly they're not Republicans so why is that?


I would say that I'm a moderate Republican just like there are moderate Democrats although I tend to be far right leaning on some issues but not so far right that I hate all Democrats as like I was saying in another thread on here that it just depends on how progressive you are.


The reason that I bring this up as I've been having a few disagreements with some Republicans on here lately because of my suggestions of how to restore peace in this country. I've been constantly accused of wanting to abolish the first and second amendment which I actually don't have it on record of me saying but that's not what this is this thread is about.


For I thought that Republicans were supposed to agree to disagree with each other peacefully like Charlie Kirk often welcomed but I've often been looked at as a traitor for having different views so why are Republicans getting angry at Democrats that they often can't have civil discussions when Republicans are guilty of that too?


Especially when all of my brainstorm ideas have been about how to stop the crazies from getting ahold of guns and prevent another assassination from happening like it happened on September 10th?


This isn't to call anybody out it's just a question. However I really respect BackAgain for his comment about how Republicans generally to agree to disagree without hatred as he's the one who inspired this thread, but unfortunately he's in the minority around here right now.

Interesting... How do you feel about banning the mentally ill from getting weapons and being able to shoot anybody that threatens you even if it's just verbally? As I'm starting to like that more than limiting some forms of speech as The Irish Ram recently pointed out.

Some of you need to go back to the Founding Fathers and understand what the limits to free speech really is. This country has lost its way

Oh and I also want to add that threats of vandalism shouldn't be covered under freedom of speech as well as threats of physical harm.

All three of these threads goes to show how violent the left can be so why isn't anybody doing anything to stop this from happening and how is catch fascist not considered a threat?

1) Actually threatening with a weapon in hand is a crime in most parts of this country.

2) Many areas have "Hate Crime" on their books and this Halloween display could fall under such a violation of law.

3) Verbal threats alone can seldom be considered a crime. Crimes usually have to be actions validly threatened(physically) or enacted.

4) Constraint of 'freedom of speech' can be a slippery slope, legally. FWIW, some might see what you have said in your posts and proposed should be done as a threatening use of free speech. The gate swings both ways.

Have you ever (tried to) purchased a firearm* ?
In most states/cases, purchase from a legal dealer requires a form for background checks, finger printing, etc.
Admittedly, mentally ill** could purchase firearms from private person and circumvent the legal background check process.

* Weapon can include many things other than a firearm. Butcher knife, timber axe, sledgehammer, motor vehicle, Doc Marten boots, hardwood 2"x4"; many things can be used as a "weapon", often lethally.
** How would you define mentally ill? If I take Bu-pro-peon for mild depression, would you consider that a disqualifying "mental illness"?

Something tells me that if YOU were allowed to shoot anyone who has ever threatened you, there would be a lot of dead family members, close friends, co-workers, etc. Your life would show a trail of dead bodies by the scores.

I have never had a background check or fingerprints to buy a weapon. Where does this occur? I don't think you understand what a background check entails and there is no requirement that I am aware of for fingerprinting.

I have had background checks and fingerprinting for teaching positions and they take weeks.
