Diversity is about division, unity is about unifying. When corporations and government separate people by race, religion, age, and gender, they divide. When they force these categorized people to coexist, they create diversity/division.

When I go to my church and sing with all of the blacks, Mexicans, and whites, we are all unified. Unity occurs when people from all backgrounds come together naturally and enjoy being together. Unity is beautiful and naturally occurring, diversity is the ugly division that occurs when corporations and government attempt to engineer unity.

Race, hence all the other lame social constructs made-up to go along with it like "diversity" ARE meant only to divide.
Race is real, ethnicity is real, heritage is real. Categorizing and labeling people by these very real things and then forcing them to interact creates division/diversity. When all these people come together naturally, it is unity. Government and corporations cannot engineer unity, they can only create diversity/division.

I guess you never heard tell of the military or even a manufacturing plant?

WORK will bring different ethnicities together quicker than anything else will.

From a purely political standpoint diversity has never been about unity, and it's certainly never been about pride in nation or nationalism. Groups of diverse people can be strong when standing together in some galvanizing cause. Groups of similar languages and cultures standing together can be even stronger. A key problem with our America of today is people coming here to the US and failing to assimilate into American culture and social norms. Lots and lots of foreign people who come to America these days want to inject and spread their own native cultures to change American culture rather than become Americans in the total sense. Politicians from both sides of the aisle encourage this behavior and it is poison.

When I was in the military, people generally hung out with birds of the same feather. Natural unity of people from various backgrounds or race often occurred, but I also saw division/diversity. Since the military is government, there was training that categorized and divided people, creating diversity. The military NEVER engineered natural occuring unity, but they were able to teach soldiers to unify in a limited capacity for operational integrity.

Focusing on what makes you different is divisive. Focusing on what brings you together fosters unity.

Conservatives focus on what makes people different. Liberals (at their best) focus on what brings people together.

Focusing on what makes you different is divisive.
Focusing on what makes people different is all the government and corporations know how to do. They create division and diversity. Government and corporations will never be able to force or engineer naturally occurring unity.
My family is a naturally occurring multi racial and multi ethnicity family, so we have unity. My church is a naturally occurring unified group of people from various races and ethnicities, so we have unity. The government and corporations cannot create this unity, they can only generate division/diversity.

Next: equity vs equity.

See if you can discern the actual differences. And if they don’t mean the same thing, isn’t there a different word for the new one?

Hardly seems equitable.

False.
They create division and diversity.
Again, false.

Good, because they're not trying to.

Yep...

And the first thing you preach politically is how you've been wronged by everyone who isn't white, male or straight. Take Juneteenth for example. How in the world does it being made a federal holiday hurt white people? Yet there were what, at least a 1/2 dozen threads from people you politically align with making the most abhorrent comments about it. No injury either real or implied...yet...as always, right wingers swear they are the victims.

Ok. There is only one race. It's the human race. We aren't different species. Corporations and politicians play people off of each other for money and votes. We don't have to attend church together and we don't have to believe in the exact same things. I don't have to agree with you or your politics in order to give a damn about your wellbeing.

The only thing that we have to do is to stop participating in the BS and stick to the issues. That's it.

It's like when people love Gumbo but don't want any Okra in it ... :auiqs.jpg:

We are returning to the old human trait of tribalism, and nothing good can come from that.

There is a difference between seeing yourself as a whatever-American and making your identity as a whatever-American as your primary self-image.

Then add the whole "who's more oppressed" power struggle thing, and you get the mess we are in right now.

No one would buy a gold ingot if the manufacturer indicated their ambition was
to include as much diversity as possible when refining the gold.

Diversity is division. It is the ugly result of categorizing and labeling groups of people and the coercing them to interact with other categorized and labeled groups. This is all that government and corporations are able to do. Unity on the other hand, is naturally occurring. It is what we get when people come together on their own and unite over common interest. Unity is beautiful and natural, diversity is ugly and divisive.
