DICK says he would do it all over again

What does that have to do with the question of possible retaliation against the report?

The crime is the torture, not the report

History is above your pay grade?

Why am I not surprised.

Back to bumper sticker making for you.

You fail to answer the question

Who is responsible? The person who engaged in torture or the one who reported it?

neither, because it was not torture. Filing a false report makes the one who filed it responsible. If americans die as a result of this report, Feinstein has their blood on her hands.

Straddling both sides of the fence aren't you?

What we did was not torture but how dare you report what we did?

which is worse, jake------------blowing innocent people into tiny pieces with drones or squirting water up the nose of a known terrorist murderer. Obama is doing drone attacks, water nose squirting was done under Bush-----------which is worse in your little mind?

You guys fail to see the difference between an active military combatant and a prisoner within the control of our government

Once we take control of that person, they are subject to the protections of our Constitution. Unless, of course, it is Republicans taking you prisoner....then all expectations of human rights go away

Liberals would have much preferred dozens of attacks . That's why they are taking such pains to ensure the nation's enemies that they will be safe in future operations.

But of course, who does these attacks Benefit?

Think about it folks. How you can support a party that dumps this out now as they are losing THEIR POWER in a month...

exactly, the timing is obvious.

You bet the timing was obvious

Republicans in the Senate would have buried the report forever.

sooooooo, the innocent men, women, and children killed by drones are now active military combatants? really?

and for the record, constitutional protections only apply to american citizens, not enemy combatants.

the report was full of untruths and half truths. it was a partisan attempt to deflect from the dems loss of congress, Gruber, and all the other obama failures. Thats the timing issue, jake.

so what. Maybe you two can offer to trade places with them. so they are SPARED harsh interrogations.

yet you have no PROBLEMS with your dear leader and party just KILLING THEM

Bin laden anyone

You libs/dems stand for NOTHING. You cheer Obama KILLING them, then turn around and wail about interrogating a terrorist because it was done under BUSH. you are so transparent and don't have a shred a honor

And the sick thing is: is that you don't care if this report ends up hurting our military, us or our country...

Osama bin Laden was the leader of a global organization engaged in widespread acts of terrorism on a sufficiently large scale as to constitute militarization. This is indisputable. The military pursuit to either capture or kill bin Laden was active for 9 1/2 years. Targeting bin Laden was a military action, and one that the United States was well justified to take.

By contrast, the imprisonment and torture of detainees by the government is nothing more than an act of tyranny. The government has imprisoned and tortured people for years, without probable cause, without any intention of trying them for crimes, and in some cases for the explicit purpose of simply manipulate some other person. This is a horrific amount of power that the government should not possess, and is not meant to possess. This is complete and total power over the lives and continued existences of human beings. It does not matter what the excuses are for doing it, it is still an act of tyranny. Every American patriot, and especially any true conservative should be disgusted by their government so freely indulging in tyranny.

Not true

Constitutional protections are imposed on the GOVERNMENT and apply to everyone under their control

Yes, we know you mourn.

Republicans have been crying.....move along, nothing to see here for a decade
They would jump at the chance to hide their misdeeds

Our human rights violations are an insult to what this nation stands for

Botttom line - like it or not -- the polling data consistently shows that Americans support the use of enhanced techniques / torture - even when you use the word torture in the question - so this is just an exercise from the left's echo chamber and it wont help them a bit politically. In fact it appears it will hurt them. They just dont get it. The GOP shouldnt back off this a bit.

Ah...what an excellent idea...let's decide on torturing people based on majority vote.

totally wrong, where do you get this shit? the Geneva convention addresses the treatment of prisoners, and it has no enforcement power.

Oh? So we can majority vote away gun rights? We can majority vote away certain religions? Interesting that you think that.

At least Cheney is consistent in what he says he does not say something on tape 20 or 30 times like if you like your plan and your doctor you can keep them period or I don't have the authority to do that and then say I never said that.

I said no such thing. My point is that I think that this may be seen as some on the left remaining in DC -- they are harder and harder to find - to get out in front of an issue where they think they will have the support of the general population since those issues are diminishing for them. The fact is that at the moment at least a lot of their big issues (war on women, abortion, income inequality, climate change) arent a big prioroty with the public as the mid tems showed. I think they are wrong here too and that is the relevance of the polls in this discussion. Feinstein et al think they are really making the Republicans look bad in the eyes of the public, but they are not because the public supports this and this report wont change this. The motivation behind this is purely political and they are making a poor political calcualtion. Thats all
