"LGBTQ Republicans say they feel misled by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) after the GOP presidential hopeful’s “war room” shared a bizarre video widely seen as inflammatory. The video bashed former President Donald Trump’s (R) support for the LGBTQ community and leaned into conservative state policies passed under DeSantis this year that were anti-LGBTQ. LGBTQ conservatives, reacting to the video, said DeSantis had shown his true colors as an “anti-LGBT champion,” undermining his arguments that his support for the policies were about protecting children and parents’ rights. “It’s like he’s going mask off,” said Brad Polumbo, a Michigan-based libertarian journalist. “The cat’s out of the bag.” Polumbo said he’d have considered voting for DeSantis at one time.
The ad features footage of Trump at the Republican National Convention in 2016 saying he would “do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens.” The ad also features old clips of Trump saying he would be OK with transgender women competing in the Miss Universe pageant, and he would be comfortable with Caitlyn Jenner, the former Olympic decathlete who came out as transgender in 2015, using the restroom of her choice at Trump Tower. The ad also features images of shirtless men and several celebrities, including actor Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman - Jennifer Williams, a Republican who in January became the first transgender woman elected to a municipal council in New Jersey said she’s been disappointed by the extreme and harmful rhetoric surrounding LGBTQ issues — and transgender issues, in particular — coming from DeSantis and other GOP 2024 frontrunners, including Trump. “None of those are major issues they’re discussing,” Williams added. “They’re worried about what’s in someone’s pants, and how someone wants to be happy in their life. And I have to ask, how American is that? And how Republican is that?”
By the way, this is the ad that has the fags so triggered...Also, try to ignore how gay this ad is, with images of oiled up men and DeSantis comparing himself to Achilles; who was um.....very gay.....so even when DeSantis is trying to come off as macho and anti gay, he still failed....anyhoo....
These log-cabin republican types are so triggered because they think these new slate of anti-LGBTQ policies may affect them; get over it queers. You know that these policies are only meant to target tranny pedos - well, not really, that is just the cover.....it is really designed to give red-meat to the base and get them excited to come out and vote on a platform of mainly manufactured grievances and no real polices...Kinda like how you log-cabin fags were ok with the red-meat issue being gay marriage; because you were ok with that being targeted...and ironically, that was also about "protecting children"...but since yall lost that battle, tranny-pedo panic is the new red meat issue...This isn't new, so why are they acting so triggered??
These policies are only intended to affect people who are already at the margins, not those with power and influence; so all of this whining about these anti-trans policies is dumb...Now you have fags like George Santos coming about against Ronnie, Log Cabin Republicans have come out against him..furthermore, this ad in my opinion actually hurts DeSantis, not helps him....Yea, he thinks most Republican voters hate fags in general, but what he doesn't understand is that overtly hating gays is no longer in style...the fags overwhelmingly won that battle -- now even among Republicans, there isn't this desire to blatantly hate fags, that is what trannies are for...Most republicans now replaced their desire to hate gays in general with hating trannies specifically - this just shows how out of touch DeSantis is with his own base. Trumpers know when Trump says he supports LGBTQ people, that really means, he hates a certain type of fag, not all of them. This ad helps Trump, not hurt him. So when you see these gay Republicans clutching their pearls over this ad, but not the ANTI-LGBTQ policies passed by DeSantis -- then you should know this is all performative outrage to make Trump look better and DeSantis worse.
