What I'm not seeing is the improvement in national security if the US acquires Greenland. That's assuming Congress agrees and approves the expenditures necessary. We've already got a base there, do we really need it? What would be the cost going forward for every year in the future if we own Greenland vs not? Does it make any sense? I ain't seeing it yet.

Maybe it would affect the status of territorial waters? I can't see Denmark standing up to Russian or Chinese incursions.

If it wasn't for the seaports on CA's coast, I'd let the Danes have it. CA for Greenland, even up trade. But then we'd have to have a western border problem along with the one on our southern border and we don't need that. Which would be worse, illegals sneaking into Nevada or CA residents? But for a hostile country to take over Greenland--the Danes are hardly equipped to prevent that--would put both Canada and the USA at significant disadvantage as well as making it much more difficult to maintain the arctic as a neutral zone.

Just as it is important for the USA to maintain superiority in space and prevent a hostile power from controlling that which could be disastrous for us and the world, Greenland is strategically located. And it would be most unfortunate should China or Russia or others who don't have the well being of all in mind to have control of the significant natural resources on Greenland.

Possibly but Trump's goals have always been to avoid war, not just have the means to win one. China especially is sneaky and gradually infiltrates a place until they own it. They almost had control of Panama before Trump intervened. Had Kamala been elected I'm pretty sure China would control Panama completely now or very soon.

China is also quietly infiltrating Greenland and Trump knows that. Denmark is doing nothing to prevent it and apparently does not have the capability to exploit Greenland's natural resources. Trump intends that no country with ability to exploit those resources and/or utilize that country for military purposes will control it unless that is us. That is best for Greenland, for Denmark, for the USA, for the world.

They haven't done anything blatantly aggressive or illegal there. At least not yet. NATO has no jurisdiction. But Trump is not the passive idiot that his predecessor too often was. And he tend to be proactive in these things to prevent a serious problem before it develops. He doesn't just shrug them off or ignore them because he doesn't have a clue what to do about it as his predecessor did. That's best for Greenland/Denmark, best for China, best for the USA, best for the world.

That is how he achieved the closest thing to world peace any of us have ever experienced in his last administration. Biden's policies have made it much tougher to accomplish now, but if anybody can do that again, Trump can.
