Dems holding up Defense Bill to rename Bases

They simply acted in turn. That was obvious and was known before Trump taxed the people.
Defending china against America is not going to win you points here

if libs let china bully you now it will never end

Nothing changed under Trump outside of there now being less farmers and the US further in debt.

You cant change 40 years of stupid trade policy in just 4 years

first you have to stop the ship before turning it around

with your current preference of biden it would be full speed ahead toward domination by china

I'm just going to ignore the lashing out posts from here on out.

The Corrupt and Racist Democrats are holding up the annual Defense spending bill to rename military Bases.
There is something really creepy about erasing history.
Erasing history is the sort of thing that totalitarians do.
Some of the worst dictators and oppressive regimes have erased landmarks and monuments to enhance their power.
If they rename the Bases what kinds people should the bases be renamed for?
Maybe they could rename Bases after Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, like Audie Murphy or Doris Miller.
But, we know that this is just another opportunity for the Wackocrats to express their "Cancel Culture" contempt.
Who do you think the Dems want to rename the Bases after?

I heard that the new name for Fort Bragg will either be fort trannie or fort little pee wee

Well at least then we will not have to worry about any of them being named after Obama or Trump. (I don't consider being a president as military service)

Well, it's not.

Besides, Presidents get aircraft carriers named for them...

Carter had a submarine named after him.

Some of those carriers are named for Navy veterans who were later President.

Actually Carter has a sub named after him.

What country names military bases after defeated traitors to the country?

There is nothing in the article that states anyone is holding up anything either. The negotiations don't start till next week.

The US-------as even in defeat, history should be remembered and is learned from.

And btw pumpkin, if you bother to look up the base names-----they weren't named after the best and brightest southern leaders. Think when named after the confederate leaders---that the US was choosing names that held special meaning and a special education for future military leaders even cautionary tales of hubris and mistakes.

No one is saying it shouldn't.

Naming of the bases-----is meant to provide a teachable moment to the cadets----------and given the choice of names, it would seem that the naming committees chose leaders whose failures would be teachable....I once looked up the base names that they wanted to change---these weren't the most successful leaders. These were military leaders that made big mistakes during the war and likely wouldn't have been chosen by the post civil war southerners to name bases for. These were men who failed the south and/or who had political and family ties to the politicians in the North.

So we are naming bases after military failures. Brilliant.

Whether the civil war was a failure depends on ones view of things

Of course. That's obvious.

...same country [ the US ] that names STATES/streets/cities/military helicopters/etc after people that:
warred on
decimated
displaced
TORTURED per policy
murdered/etc other peoples

What country names military bases after defeated traitors to the country?

Countries that want to bring their nation back together after a Civil War for one.

The Civil War is long over. Get over it.
You foul vermin want to destroy history.

Changing the names of bases will never change the historical fact that the South lost.

I don't think anyone is interested in doing that.

Maybe we can rename military latrines after infamously bad presidents like Obama, Clinton and Carter

Carter has the largest U.S. attack submarine ever built named after him.
Pretty good for a guy who ask his daughter how to respond to nuclear war

Not entirely accurate, IIRC President Carter mentioned in the 1980 debate with Ronald Reagan that his daughter (Amy) was asked what she thought was the greatest problem facing the world and she said "nuclear proliferation" (that is the spread of nuclear weapons which in 1980 turned out to be a largely nonexistent threat).

I think the naming of the third and final Sea Wolf class submarine (larger because it had extra intelligence gathering capabilities in order for it to replace a couple of older submarines used for intelligence gathering missions, mainly tapping Soviet (Russian) communications cables) was due to Carter being the first U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis) graduate to be elected president and his time in the navy on Admiral Rickover's team developing nuclear powered submarines.

Actually they made the carter larger because the seawolf class became not needed after the soviet breakup. They added a seal access unit and equipment for their use
