DeMS-13 message of hatred for America falls short in AZ
In a staunchly Republican district that elected Joe Arpaio as Sherriff for a generation, where 90% of the voters are white, and a huge number of them are retired, a district which Republicans traditionally carry by over 20 points, a black Democrat came within 5 points of winning the Congressional seat.
Remarkable!
It's funny how you keep trying to paint the district as racist until your climax where you prove it isn't.
Leftists are bizarre little people. And by little of course I'm referring to your minds
I didn’t paint the district as racist. I painted it as Republican and very unlikely to flip.
Older, white people overwhelmingly vote Republican and Trump won the District by 20%. This District elected Arpaio because he’s a Republican, not because he’s a racist. Don’t forget they also voted Arpaio out because their hard earned taxes were going to pay millions in settlements to the victims of Arpaio’s abuse.
If I had been trying to portray the District as racist I would have linked to the clip where the Debbie Lesko, the Republican candidate was saying “I don’t think the Democratic candidate is a ‘good fit’ for this District”.
Hirel Tipirneni, the candidate she was disparaging, is a black physician who lives in the District she was running in. As previously stated the District has a large elderly population and Dr. Tipirneni’s focus is on protecting and improving access to health care.
Lesko is a stalwart of the Arizona Republican Party who has represented the District for 6 years, with a reputation for working hard for her constituents.
You would think that this known quantity swamp critter who considers herself a “good fit” for the District, would have easily defeated this first time candidate with no prior political experience, especially considering the the money the Republican Party spent on the election.
And yet her margin of victory dropped nearly 15% over Trump’s election victory in the District in 2016.
Imagine if Trump continues to cut healthcare funding. If premiums continue to rise, if he doesn’t get the promised relief from the high cost of prescription drugs. There are financial implications for retirees on fixed incomes which will most certainly affect the quality of their lives. How long will they support bait and switch Republicans?
