Nick is also head head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau - Unbelievable .. Shall we deem Nick our Swamp Creature of the Week?

White House budget czar Mick Mulvaney told banking executives that while he was serving in congress before joining the Trump administration, he enacted a pay-to-play scheme for lobbyists looking to meet with him. “We had a hierarchy in my office in Congress. If you’re a lobbyist who never gave us money, I didn’t talk to you,” Mulvaney explained to the 1,300 banking industry officials at the American Bankers Association conference. “If you’re a lobbyist who gave us money, I might talk to you.”

This alarming anecdote came as part of a larger call by Mulvaney encouraging banks to aggressively pursue their agenda with lawmakers. The comments raise a number of pretty clear cut ethical, much less legal issues, one of which is that Mulvaney currently presides over the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as the interim director of the very body that’s supposed to protect individuals from unseemly (and illegal) banking and lending schemes.

Mulvaney’s comments Tuesday laid bare the conflicts of interest present in his running of the Obama-era financial regulator into the ground, while also raising obvious questions about his time as a legislator. The Trump administration generally, and Mulvaney specifically, have not done much to hide their disdain for the consumer protection mandate given the CFPB in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis and have intermittently worked to roll back its authority where possible and sabotage it elsewhere.

So crickets - Do you Trumpkins approve of this corrupt behavior?

When Dems take back the House it'll be time to shitcan Citizens United.

Sure it will, because they don’t do the same thing, right? :abgg2q.jpg:

No, it is typically not a progressive habit undo financial and environmental regulations.

Have they used Cit United to pull dark money? Yep - Gotta compete.

But maybe the worst SCOTUS decision in history needs to go.

Trump administration will go down in history books as the most corrupt in history. Trump is well documented as a liar and thief. He surrounds himself with the same kind of people.

Yeah like this isn't & hasn't already been happening forever.

The sooner you realize our lawmakers are corrupt the better.
Democrats publicly coming out and saying show us the money?

How is your example remotely similar to the subject of this thread? This thread is about an administration official and representative publically soliciting bribes. Perhaps you can show a link of when this has happened before.

Which is worse in your mind?

Actually taking bribes or the article listed above.

One is a crime the other is someone's interpretation of a discussion.

Think hard!

We actually owe a debt of "gratitude" to Mulvaney for openly admitting how fucking crooked these bastards have become with legalized impunity.

What citizen United has done, is to wholly legalize the BRIBING of these elected morons who ONLY follow the dictates of those who can pay........

I'm somewhat reminded of Martin Luther, who wrote in his Christian Liberty that the downfall of the strangle-hold that the corrupt Vatican had on Catholics, began when priests would only absolve someone from his or her sins, IF they could pay for their confessions.

You are deflecting from the subject of the thread because, well, it's more confirmation that Trump is a crook. When you can't defend him, change the subject and deflect.

I am deflecting? I was asked for a link. I gave it. Don't be mad at me that your partisan bubble got popped.

Here’s the difference. Jefferson KNEW what he was doing was both illegal and wrong. Hence his attempts to cover his crime.

Mulvaney is following Trump’s lead and openly flouting the law. Trump has openly bragged about bribing government officials as a real estate developer. Having done a lot of legal for real estate developers, I have no doubt that he did. Graft and corruption is overt and blatant in the industry.

Now Trump and company have brought that level of corruption to the White House. Well, he did say he was going to run the country the way he runs his businesses. Massive amounts of debt and a whole lot of corruption.

You can’t say he wasn’t up front about it.

In others words, the truth makes you VERY uncomfortable.

This headline is classic fake news. It's twisting a cherry picked fact so far out of context it creates an entirely different narrative than what actually happened. He said that he would meet with every single constituent who came to his office, but that lobbyists were far less likely to even get a meeting. Per the original New York Times article: Mr. Mulvaney said that trying to sway legislators was one of the “fundamental underpinnings of our representative democracy. And you have to continue to do it.”

Mulvaney's speech was about the value of government through regulatory agency versus government through legislature, and about the fact that constituents will always take precedence over lobbying.
