In regards to Senator Joe Manchin's announcement today that he is a firm "no" vote on the Build Back Better bill and the response of left-wing Democrats in Washington where they are acting like an angry mob that wants its version of justice and the hell with civilized principles they are missing an opportunity to help their constituents! The Build Back Better Act was going to be passed through the Congressional legislative process called "reconciliation" which evades the Senate filibuster so that a bill utilizing this process can pass the Senate chamber with only 51 votes whereas on the normal process sixty votes are needed to pass a bill through the chamber, Democrats can still used this process they can break the bill into pieces and pass individual pieces into law the Democrat Party used this strategy during the Clinton Presidential Administration. Today, CNN host Jake Tapper asked Democrat Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley who represents the Progressive Wing of the Democrat Party unofficially that very question would you be amenable to breaking the BBB bill into pieces and she was like I don't want to go there in effect saying I think my party leadership should coerce Senator Manchin to vote for the bill what is she thinking Senator Manchin should be taken into some back room and beaten with rubber hoses until he submits!
The smart play for these Progressive Democrats is to get what you can why your party holds the House and the Senate. You probably can get an extension of the $3000 child tax credit which lifts like forty percent of the people in poverty out of poverty and tax credits to help people afford child care which provides precious help to working families just "fund" these programs for ten years, that is, pay for them, with revenue raising. Drop the fiscally irresponsible programs such as Progressive Democrats want to expand Medicare to cover dental, vision and hearing but how about first fixing the solvency problem at Medicare the Medicare Trust Fund is scheduled to go broke by 2026. You probably could get a tax credit for electric vehicles through just don't have any linkage to electric vehicles manufactured at "union" plants in America. Democrats sticking to mainstream good policies you folks could accomplish a lot! Where the heck is the moderate wing of the Democrat Party here; don't let Senator Joe Manchin take all the heat alone here for blocking BBB many of you Democrats don't want to face voters in your district having voted for things in the BBB act like the BBB provision of a maximum of $80,000 dollars deduction for property taxes allowed on one's Federal taxes and so you wouldn't vote for this bill so stand up and be counted, stand up for principle here!
