Democrats say parents are not able to decide upon their children's education

they can't do any worse than the school system is doing. Kids graduate that cannot read.

I've been in the classroom, and every student could read out loud.
So, can't read, is hyperbole.

Can't read period?
or
Can't read past a 4th grade level?

A person my age if they dropped out in the 10th grade. They still know more than the average high school graduate today. But we weren't sexualized by our teachers when we were 8.

What exactly is a person your age?

And..................technology is changing at a rapid pace all of the time. What was normal 40 years ago is considered antiquated and outdated now. Hell...................when I was growing up, I was learning stuff in HS that I would have to take time to explain to my Grandparents on occasion, as they had no idea what I was learning about because their knowledge base didn't include it. Same thing today. There are things that are being taught (and I'm talking about hard fact things, not social things) in school today that I would have thought of as fantastic what if's if someone would have told me about them when I was in the 10th grade. Computers and cell phones for one, which are in wide use in schools today. Back in my HS days, I wouldn't have even dreamed about all the things I can now do on my smart phone or home computer today, and those are things that people need to know about. Me? I was very fortunate, since my job in the Navy had a lot of computers to work with. Started off learning how to work a Xerox 860 Pro, then got into another billet where I started working with Hewlett Packards and network systems, then went on even further than that.

I still find it amazing to myself that I carry around a smart phone and think nothing of using it (still don't know all the things it can do though, even in spite of having had it for over 2 years now), and that little device has more computing power and abilities than the entire computer room on my first ship. It also is more powerful than the stand alone laptop that I was given to keep squadron records with back in 1992, and I was working with cutting edge stuff at the time.

I'll be 53 this year, yes there is a big difference. But that's no excuse for pushing your thoughts on a child.

I am a parent and what if I want my child to go to sex education classes, read books and have the freedom to make their own choices that make them happy in their lives?
Then you can do all that.

Don't foist it on me though.

Agreed, but they can still read.

And you graduated with classmates that were just as weak as some students are today.
I never knowingly knew someone who couldn't read till a few years ago. I was helping a buddy out, and handed one of his employees a funny cartoon to read. He handed it back and told me he couldn't read. But he dropped out of high school.

Yes they can't do any worse than the school system is doing. Kids graduate that cannot read.
But you also said this ^^^^^^

So the ONLY person that you 'knowingly know' was a buddy of yours.
But you 'knowingly claim' that kids graduate that cannot read.
Even though you've never witnessed it.

You watch the news? In one state right now we have children that cannot do math. But they know the pronouns. I was shocked that a person in our time, doesn't know how to read. The liberal school system needs to be defunded.

What's a liberal school system?

They teach the free market? The gold standard? Consent of the governed? Ethics of Christianity?

I get a lot of what you are saying, but my question is, do you think your grandmother should have had access to a 6,000/year scholarship to direct your education along whatever lines she deemed appropriate, even though she didn't have an education beyond elementary school?
Abso-fucking-lutely.

You can point out the tiny segment of people that want to inject pseudo-science into their child's education but the reality here is that parents like that are already going to interject ID no matter what you do. That problem pales in comparison to the VAST number of people, particularly minorities, who are locked into shit schools. This is something I will never understand, the left wants to support minority groups but will not address the core problem of poor areas having poor education adding to generational poverty.

Give the parents the power to break out of that shit cycle.

You can easily address the homeschooling problem with basic standardized testing for those that are schooled at home. We do that here in WA.

You loons have been in charge of education for years. Indoctrination of kids to be sexual, is what you loons wanted, well when your hatred of Trump shut the economy down. Parents started to see what you loons were doing to our kids, and now. Your plans has been set back for a while. Congratulations! Lol

Interesting statistic. But they don't say the parents are doing this because schools are bad. It states there is no data collected on this.

I like Newsnation. They seem to try to stay centered.

Parents are tired of wokeness in education. Anyone that thinks kindergarteners and first graders should be subjected to anything sexual probably shouldn't be allowed around children

Shut up, fool.

They teach children how to masturbate. They teach the proper use of a condom for gay sex.

You think being liberal is loony? Are you communist or socialist or something?

Tucker talking points. Good job. You hit many of them. You forgot about stolen elections, deadly vaccines and the great replacement.

Keep working at it; you'll get better.

Are you sure you're not thinking of groomer DeSantis and George Santos? Maybe your talking about the Catholic church?

Whatever it is, you seem confused.

They’re such idiots. That’s what Maculiffe said in his race against Youngkin, and he lost because of it. Now they’re continuing to claim that parents need to butt out?

Most parents aren't radical left wingers.
That's a problem for radical left wingers.
