Democrats? Hello?

What are the options for the Democratic party moving forward? I see three options, but please feel free to discuss or put forth your own ideas.

Option 1: The reasonable approach e.g. Tip O'Neill back in the 1980's. Be more about the good of the Country than Power and Party. Work with Trump where you can and put the American People first. Reasonable.

Option 2: Resist Trump in every possible way no matter how stupid or destructive. Basically, this is the approach Dems have done for the last eight years. It has failed spectacularly, and it only makes Trump and his movement stronger. But being Dems, they keep doing the same stupid shit over and over expecting a different result. Trump keeps pushing the Dems into further extreme positions (supporting wife-beating gangbangers and chicks with dicks in girls' sports and bathrooms as two examples). But the Dems cannot seem to help themselves.

Option 3: Completely ignore the will of the American People and go hard Marxist Left. Think Bernie, AOC, and the Squad. Abandon any moderation and go all in on full blown DEI, wealth redistribution, open borders, Globalism over America and the American People, Global Warming will kill Grandma in the next 5 years, etc.

So, which approach will the Dems take moving forward? Can they somehow regain the middle ground? And to be clear, this thread is not about Trump in any way, so do not do the typical but, but, but TRUMP!!! This is solely about the Dems and how they will move forward.

Discuss.
Already a thread on this.

Most Dems today (including the ones on this board) go with option 2, because that's the way their leadership rolls. The Dems are between a rock and a hard place, because reasonable Dems realize they have no clout with their leadership.

Republicans are exactly the opposite. Everyone laughed at Trump before he beat out 16 other Republicans for the nomination (including establishment favorites).

Regarding your option 3, there are some actual socialists in this country, and much as I hate to say it they deserve representation. I don't think they'll get it from the Democratic party though. The Dem leadership is corrupt, all they want is control over public money so they can steal some of it. Insider trading, the whole nine yards. If you ask me, the socialists should split off, they'd do better that way.

That is the interesting area .
The ecomomy is doomed and imho that is key to Deep State strategy --- paves the way for the re-set .

So how do they hang on to the Sheeple as economic life becomes hell ?
Surely only another but real and harder Scamplandemic is required -- to drive the Sheeple to fear and panic which is when people become Gullible and Compliant .
Just a considered speculation .

Hopefully they aren't that evil.

And as Trump has upended other conventional wisdom items in politics, if I were him, if Congress keeps stalling, I would ask the people to elect Republicans that will cooperate with him on his agenda to go from EO's to actual legislation.

That includes primarying RINOs

It has to be about expanding majorities, then the rinos become less relevant.

The days are going by here, the mid terms (usually a good time for the opposing party) are inching closer, and I don't know if I've ever seen one of the "major" parties this shy, meek and quiet. I'm seeing absolutely no clear, strong, focused message coming from the party.

Is the Democratic Party 2026 strategy going to be to point at the GQP and hope that's enough? I really don't think that's a great idea. What's going on?

I know that at least 75% of the responses to this question will be trolling from the Right, but if anyone has anything constructive to identify, that would be appreciated.

The Midterm Loss Rule: What Do Voters Expect in 2026?
If Trump lowers deficits and puts more money in the pockets of workers without inflation, the gop will "run train." I don't see that's likely, though. I with it were, but ..... he's only marginally more cognizant than biden.

He is not lowering the deficit. He is blowing it wide open.

I'm sure no matter what the Democrats do, Vichy Mac, you'll whine about them being too woke and not pandering to your interests enough.

On a serious note, we have to kind of wait to see how the midterms pan out, based on what Trump does and which of his policies turn out to be unpopular.

In 2006, the focus was on opposition to the Iraq War and Bush's failures on Katrina. That didn't emerge until things in Iraq really did start to go south.

In 2010, the focus was on "taxes" (even though Obama didn't raise taxes and even extended the Bush tax giveaways) and the ACA (which people who weren't even effected by it hated it.)

The Democrats probably figure they don't have to do much except let Trump flounder around. Midterms almost always break for the out-of-power party.... i.e., 2022, 2018, 2014, 2010, 2006.

Retaking the Senate is probably impossible unless Trump becomes really unpopular, like Bush did in 2006. There just aren't enough Republicans in Blue States and too many Democrats in Red states this time.

The House is so razor thin right now that the Democrats have a reasonably good chance of retaking it on the pure momentum of voter regret over Trump.

The real place to focus SHOULD be the on the governorships and state houses. The question being, who emerges looking really good from the midterms to be a credible challenger to Vance in 2028.
Plus, they still have their stealing apparatus activated.

He is not lowering the deficit. He is blowing it wide open.
He's spewing that his beautiful tariffs will generate lots of revenue. BUT if they raise prices one of two things will happen: people will just buy less OR if they don't, prices will rise, and there will be a recession because the fed will raise rates.

I just think either Trump's right, and if he is, about everyone I watch on cnbc or read is wrong.

Aren't off year elections decided on issues sort of unique to certain House districts or senate races ... and a referendum on the guy in the WH? So the maga states will most likely just elect maga, and the SALT guys may have gotten enough by blowing up the deficits even more. The dems are in a weak position candidate-wise, but if they run progs in suburban mom districts or Trump doesn't blow up the economy .... Maga may win.

Have a nice weekend.

Your lies do not stop. We cannot get to Trump's agendas in a fair way because he is "only marginally more cognizant than Joe" retort. Trump has more availability to the media and citizens in a week than Joe did in 4 years. If you expect perfection in every sentence, it is only because he is a Republican. The men and women involved with Joe with all of their lies and running the government and not elected, need to be executed as traitors. To not following the Constitution as you guys frequently spew. You destroy your own. What you did to Musk was a disgrace. Yeah, execute the bastards.

The LEAST we could do is fix THIS one, but overall we just don't care enough.

I've seen a couple of pieces about how AOC is the "face of the party" now. Do you agree with that, and do you think she should be moving up in the party now?
This post shows an inordinate attachment to a certain party by someone who claims to be neutral.
Say you're a Democrat, Mac! You should get a headlock and noogies until ya do.
Tell the truth and set yourself free! :spinner:
Tell ya what, boy. My college education didn't fail me. :1peleas:

They know they have your vote. Why would they do anything?

I dunno...

Maybe it has something to do with last year's most accurate pollster delegating a +11 favorable rating to Trump a mere few days ago.

In fact, every single accurate (or ball park accurate) poll from last year has him with a net approval....and rising.

Hell, even the FAKE NEWS polls have him rising and only slightly negative now.

CNN admitted as such:

CNN’s Harry Enten Says Trump’s Approval Ratings Are Suddenly Surging Beyond Expectations

Kind of hard to go gangbusters on a (gasp), POPULAR President.

But no.

That would be crediting the donkeys with a modicum of political instinct which they do not possess.

The reality is the Democrats actually are weak, and are stupid.

And no matter how many times MAGA has been proven right again and again over the years, you'll keep stepping on rakes because you all suffer from an acute case of TDS with an (un)healthy dose of mRNA induced inertia.

And as a direct result, you will continue to lose.

Bigly.

Let's go back in time. In 2000 GW Bush became POTUS and was the quintessential establishment politician who did everything possible to please the elites who fund the entire establishment. After 8 years of establishment politics the republican voters were fed up and many voted for Obama, who promised CHANGE. And what did Obama actually do? 8 more years of establishment politics for the benefit of the elite. Then came along Trump who actually IS anti-establishment. The establishment did everything possible to make sure he didn't get reelected and got Biden into the WH to continue the trend of establishment politics. In 2024 The people again chose the anti-establishment Trump. Anyone notice a trend here? The American voter is tired of establishment politics. Now, the 10 trillion dollar question: Can the democrats find and support an anti-establishment candidate and leader? Until then, MAGA will rule. The only way for the democrats to win again is to out-MAGA MAGA. But the democrats spent the last 8 years being Anti-MAGA. Anything they do will be seen as phony. They are no longer trustworthy. And we all know the current DNC leadership is all about the elite and their Big Money, not the people. So, in my opinion, the democrats have maneuvered themselves into the wrong corner and have no way out. The only way to fix the problem is to break up the party into the Progressive Pro-Establishment Anti-American Lunatics Party and a new Center Left MAGA Party. Then the Center Left MAGA Party will have to genuinely care about the American people.

I thought your name was Dorian, not DeLorean. ;)
