Democrats? Hello?

your party
I've never been a Democrat, nor could I be. I have no use for either party.

I agree with this guy:

The days are going by here, the mid terms (usually a good time for the opposing party) are inching closer, and I don't know if I've ever seen one of the "major" parties this shy, meek and quiet. I'm seeing absolutely no clear, strong, focused message coming from the party.

Is the Democratic Party 2026 strategy going to be to point at the GQP and hope that's enough? I really don't think that's a great idea. What's going on?

I know that at least 75% of the responses to this question will be trolling from the Right, but if anyone has anything constructive to identify, that would be appreciated.

Let me make this simple because Dims are involved. There are three options moving forward for the Dim Party.

Option 1: The reasonable approach e.g. Tip O'Neill back in the 1980's. Be more about the good of the Country than Power and Party. Work with Trump where you can and put the American People first. Reasonable.

Option 2: Resist Trump in every possible way no matter how stupid or destructive. Basically, this is the approach Dims have done for the last eight years. It has failed spectacularly, and it only makes Trump and his movement stronger. But being Dims, they keep doing the same stupid shit over and over expecting a different result. Trump keeps pushing the Dims into further extreme positions (supporting wife-beating gangbangers and chicks with dicks in girls' sports and bathrooms as two examples). But Dims will do Dim shit.

Option 3: Completely ignore the will of the American People and go hard Marxist Left. Think Bernie, AOC, and the Squad. Abandon any moderation and go all in on full blown DEI, wealth redistribution, open borders, Globalism over America and the American People, Global Warming will kill Grandma in the next 5 years, etc.

Mac & Cheese, those are your options. Which way do you think it will go? :D

What are the options for the Democratic party moving forward? I see three options, but please feel free to discuss or put forth your own ideas.

So, which approach will the Dems take moving forward? Can they somehow regain the middle ground? And to be clear, this thread is not about Trump in any way, so do not do the typical but, but, but TRUMP!!! This is solely about the Dems and how they will move forward.

Discuss.

The sad part is the LIBs are buying it.

Truth be told, I don't know. I did see Pete and AOC/Bernie, and it's good they're staying in the public eye. But the vibe I'm getting -- and this is just me -- is that the party really doesn't have an identity right now.
Party personality generally means figurehead. Democrats had Obama as a giant figure then the GOP had Trump. Both came out of nowhere. There is a long list of hopefuls: Jeffries, Beshear, Shapiro, Newsome, Whitmire.
The public has the attention span of a gnat, so it seems to me the smartest thing to do is to come up (as a group) with two or three clear and focused ideas that they pound away on everytime there's a microphone in their face.
4 things: Economy slowing, Deficit exploding, Inflation rising, Corruption/Incompetence
The Dems have hurt themselves with the border and cultural issues, the public probably blames them for the inflation, and I don't know if that gets turned around quickly. Yes, their biggest strength is probably Trump, but I wouldn't want to lean on that.
The republicans attack every single marginal group in America… immigrants, poor, gay, and yes even weirdos. Who speaks up for them? It’s currently the democrats standing up against hurting people because of their beliefs. Many people see the democrats sticking up for all these marginalized groups and call it “social issues” etc. But it’s a slippery slope from demonizing a group to persecuting to.. well we all know what comes next.

Even on Immigration the GOP goes apeshit and deports legal applicants but the right doesn’t care because its brown people and white South Africans are getting in. I mean everywhere the GOP just lines up its sites on the marginalized.

The answer cant be shitting on those people.

The problem remains that a large swath of this country is just fine with all of that. This whole period has been a real learning experience.

I guess there may be enough voters paying attention that the mid terms will see a shift just based on what's happening, but that seems like a big risk to take. Maybe the Dems think that pointing at Trump gives them their best shot.

Until the disaster administration 2.0 gets booted into obscurity, there's no serious candidate I can see for democrats.

That said, a reckoning needs to take place to restore decorum, whether by policy or blood.
I just named a few.

  • Jefferies is one of my favorites
  • Shapiro is great
  • Beshear is pretty good
  • Newsome is a bit polarizing but has potential
  • Whitmire is a solid candidate
  • Pete Buttigieg has a great delivery

Number one really didn't hit the nail on the head for me. If they were smart, which they are not, they have these very simple options:

1. Offer up some actual policies for Americans but not the same ones from 2020-2024 and pre -2016 ones that were soundly rejected by voters where Biden left with 37% approval rating and only 25% of Americans felt the country was going in the right direction.

2. Drop the wokes and the progressives like hot coals from a burning fire.

3. Quit with the resistance and weaponization of the justice system, Trump is a racist Hitler and will take democracy away. They're too stupid to see that hasn't worked for the eight years they've been doing it.

I honestly think midterms are a slam dunk loss for Trump. He got blown out being ridiculous last time and the economy was doing great. Shits about to get real on that front.

Swing voters just hate whoever is in office so it’s always “thank you, next up”. Doesn’t matter if it is a serial rapist fraudster as long as it isn’t the person in there now. I don’t get it.
