Democrats? Hello?

The two parties really are quite worthless. Both have put this nation in debt and war after after war. Pathetic.

Um, no, guy, we did that.

We want the government to do shit, and we don't want to pay for it.

As for wars, every war this country has fought was ridiculously popular when it started.

Every. Last. One.

Your current problem is the party on the right is autocratic, anti-democratic and authoritarian. And right wing billionaires are lying in order to keep them in power and get tax cuts.

Oligarchs have taken over and they're lying to the voters about their candidate.
I think the problem is that voters on both sides are being manipulated like crazy. The left are not calling for Proportional Representation either. The Dems have some wacky policies and for a lot of the politicians it's just about making money

The days are going by here, the mid terms (usually a good time for the opposing party) are inching closer, and I don't know if I've ever seen one of the "major" parties this shy, meek and quiet. I'm seeing absolutely no clear, strong, focused message coming from the party.

Is the Democratic Party 2026 strategy going to be to point at the GQP and hope that's enough? I really don't think that's a great idea. What's going on?

I know that at least 75% of the responses to this question will be trolling from the Right, but if anyone has anything constructive to identify, that would be appreciated.

The Midterm Loss Rule: What Do Voters Expect in 2026?
As far as I'm concerned, Bernie Sanders and AOC are the only part of the Democratic Party that still matters.

And Sanders isn't even a Democrat. Although the party would be much better off with more people like him.

The dilemma the Dems have is Trump & his party of enabling lackeys control the 3 branches of the federal govt. I'm hoping that by giving those craven bastards enough rope, they'll hang themselves. But I'm not counting on it. Trump is a lowlife corrupt criminal gangster & his party have gotten themselves in so deep they can't get out, so we can forget about them. It's like watching a mob movie come to life. When this is over we can ask the same question that was asked at the end of WW2. 'Why did millions of people fall in line with Hitler'? Just substitute Hitler's name with Trump.

And how do Dems counter the fact that millions of people have been brainwashed for years by being glued to Fox & listening to Limbaugh? Beats me.

Btw, it's going to get worse. A lot worse.

it seems like the left have been pretty brainwashed themselves by the bullshit they say too...

Basically you’re fucked. Since the democrat party has to run 100% against anything Trump that pretty much leaves any common sense positions unavailable you. Anything 80% of the population views as simple common sense you have to run against. Good fucking luck with that.

Do you think the party should lean more left, then?

Neither the Dems nor the media have ever understood how to deal with his behavior and temperament. He is absolutely unique and can't be treated or covered like a normal, intelligent adult. He is the modern day King Joffrey, and they're absolutely terrified of him. He gives the media objectively easy material to work with, but they know they if they do, they'll completely lose access, they may even lose their license now, and that could make things even worse. It's an impossible situation.

And yeah, add to that the fact that the country is now essentially existing in two separate and competing realities, and there may not be an answer. I understand the Dems' conundrum, but it sure looks like they're just sitting there for the most part.

Btw, it's going to get worse. A lot worse.
I'm sad to say that's my guess too. We went from being the "Shining City on a Hill" to an untrustworthy, isolated, predatory nation in just weeks. This has nowhere near played out yet.

I think a lot of people are over-complicating a very easy problem to understand. Almost no one likes the federal government. Most people don't even vote because they know the federal government only does what the rich and powerful want and then gets the middle class to pay for it. And this includes almost all politicians from both parties. So when someone like Trump comes along who basically says "The Government Sucks" the people are going to see him like a great opportunity to say "Fuck You!" to the government while giving the finger. The fact that he is actually doing what the people want is just a bonus and got him reelected. The problem is that both sides suck, and are essentially demopublicans and republicrats and only give the people status quo government and a shitload of broken promises. Well, I and about 80 million other Americans say "Fuck'em!" So, if democrats want to win elections, stop giving the people the same old ineffective, expensive government that does nothing for the vast majority of the country.

Oh dude! Those little chants they do brainwash them while they do them. It the same method used on Patty Hearst by the SLA.
Those repetitive chants like that are designed to brainwash.
Murdering of white farmers isn’t news to the lefties…
Yeah, that's really been going on for a couple years now. The internet has memory holed it, but I remember.
When it started, Putin and Australia were taking them in. To me it looks like Trump just got wind of it very recently.

Mac,

I think your concern is right...

The Democrats seem to be like a deer in headlights unable to understand what to do with the Steve Bannon flood the zone strategy is killing them...

I know I am a broken record saying this.

They need shadow cabinets marking areas... Who is the Democrat lead on Healthcare, Education, Tariffs, immigration...? These guys set and agree policy, this has to get everyone towing the line, singing from the same sheet... Discuss is not only allowed but encouraged but internally... Even controlled decent is allowed is special circumstances...

Remember Pete Buttigieg in Transport? He went on Fox, knew his brief but more importantly knoew it so well he could explain it in plain english and could could tie these complex problems to kitchen table issues (he could simplify the issue... And then he did that on Fox News. That is your standard...

A team of 3-4 on each cabinet position (Senators and Congress but could have outside that)... A few more 'Super Junior' cabinets for hot button issues like tariffs, immigration under a cabinet role...

The shadow should come almost as well known as the cabinet... And then you have to get a leader of the opposition... Is Jeffries really that? I don't think so... You need to be picking someone that looks like he is running things overall...

So Fox News will have Democrats on who are highly briefed, accurate and speaking their language... Americans at the root of it are not that far apart...

Bannon's right in that "flooding the zone" works, particularly in politics. There's just no way to give any raindrop in the hurricane serious attention, and he knows it. I also think that's just the way Trump is naturally -- non-stop chaos and showbiz.

And in fairness, it may just LOOK like the Dems have gone radio-silent by comparison. But your thoughts point to doing things differently are good, and that's the Dems' only chance right now. Maybe they need to pick a central figure to rally around.

But the issues that are their weaknesses have to be addressed. The Dems damn near handed the middle class to the GQP, and it has to start there. They have to stop dividing Americas into "identities" and CLEARLY focus on what motivates everyone.

The question is whether it's too late. I don't want one-party rule by either party. That obviously doesn't work.

The Iraq 2 war wasn't popular in both parties, it had overall support but there was a fair amount of questions and now we know a fair amount of lies..
MAGA never want to take responsibility for that... There was close to 100% support from the GOP for that war at the time... Iraq 2 was the expensive one... Then Afghan which was war GOP made a dogs dinner out off...

GOP/MAGA get us in the real expensive wars and Democrats wars are relatively peanuts... Ukraine is $128bn but a lot of that was arms sent ($70bn) and the cost was the replacement of much more modern equipment.. so you could half that amount quit easilly... So we are talking about $93bn received by Ukraine government in support...

Iraq 2 alone cost $3 trillion... So Ukraine would have to continue for over 100 years at this pace to surpass Iraq 2...

This is the difference between a GOP war and a Democrat war... Don't treat them the same..
