Respectfully, I suspect you have it all wrong. If he didn’t intend to start a treasonous insurrection, one would think he would want to say so.
and it wasn’t a demand, wackadoodle. It was a request. So you freaks can’t wine that he didn’t have the chance to tell his side.
now a subpoena, which is well within their rights. Now that’s a demand. And if he doesn’t show up, there will be an inference of guilt.
I bet Trump would love to testify, but his lawyers probably strongly discourage it, knowing that Dems love to set up perjury traps.
Additionally, according to the law, remaining silent is an inalienable right, and provides zero inference of guilt.
His legal team will handle his defense. There is no need for Trump to testify, other than to elevate the spectacle of this circus trial.
Finally, they are attempting to impeach him based upon recorded statements. I personally don't see much value in him testifying. The words are public record, and there is extensive context. There is no need for him to come testify and explain what he meant. It is quite clear that he was calling for people to peacefully assemble at the Capitol and send a message to those about to certify an arguably-fraudulent election, and he encouraged his supporters to keep fighting for election integrity, otherwise Democracy in America is dead.
