Democrats can’t keep the 'Schumer Shutdown' going much longer

Its called "going nuclear", its a simple 51-vote majority to change the senate rules.
Stupid Republicans won't do it for some stupid reason.
Democrats tried to do it last term, but Manchin and Sinema voted no.
I'm guessing the reason is fear because once done, then the OTHER party can use the 51 vote option.

Nope. Until now no party was that stupid.
Still, when they write any law for you or I, it comes with "consequences" for if it is not followed to the letter of the law--- yet no one has ever written any "consequences" for holding the nation hostage? Not even any loss of pay for all the time you did not work?

Nope. Its just a senate rule called the "filibuster" that requires 60 votes to end debate.
It is good for major changes to Law, but now its just a stupid roadblock to the majority.
Thune needs to go nuclear.
The longer it drags on, the more opportunity the GOP creates for democrats to use their media lapdogs to blame the GOP with.

Once the health insurance subsidies end, the military goes without pay, and everyone on SNAP doesn't get any food starting in November, leading to a HUGE downturn in Wal-Mart, Kroger and other big chain sales?

It won't matter whose fault it is, the entire nation is going to have a cold, barren Christmas and thousands will get thrown out of jobs. . . .

Obamacare was written by the healthcare industry. That's why prices went up faster than all the new hospitals and annexes around this country. There's no good reason for throwing good money at the scam known as Obamacare.

Republicans were the liberal party in 1864.
That’s why Northern states (Democrats supporters) voted Republicans.

And that’s why in recent elections the republican electoral map looks like the Confederacy.
Liberals abolished slavery.
No, liberals, dems are the party of slavery and segregation and continue to divide groups TO. THIS.DAY. Lets never forget who they are.

True. But if Republicans change the rule jut for CRs, Appropriations, and Rescissions, those are all budget items that change annually. The alternative is to never change the budget, never pass Appropriations, and do CRs forever until the dollar collapses.

The Constitution says that congress shall always be paid. The answer is to change the senate rule and deal with the big swings in policies after parties change majorities. That will get voters to pay more attention to party policies.

True. We did not elect Republicans to let the democrats run the government nor to shut it down.

This 60 vote BULLSHIT in the Senate must end. AND Democrats attempted to do just that to F over the Republicans it's not like Dem's won't do it first chance they get. So let's not waste the Trump victory by propping up the sham 60 vote rule that Democrats are using to hold the country HOSTAGE unless they get PORK spending voters don't want.

EXACTLY!

The shutdown is all on Trump/MAGA.

Proof Schumer is holding America hostage on a political stunt. CRs are for funding already negotiated and voted on programs, not new programs.

Since board Dimtards are avoiding my education thread like it's a job.............

Summary

The program activities of most federal agencies are generally funded on an annual basis through the enactment of regular appropriations acts. When those annual appropriations acts are not enacted by the beginning of the fiscal year (October 1), one or more continuing appropriations acts (commonly known as continuing resolutions or CRs) may be enacted to provide temporary funding to continue certain programs and activities until action on the regular appropriations acts is completed.

There are six main features of CRs.

First, CRs have provided funding for certain activities (coverage), which are typically specified with reference to the prior fiscal year's appropriations acts.

Second, CRs provide budget authority for a specified duration of time. This duration may be as short as a single day or as long as the remainder of the fiscal year.

Third, in recent practice, CRs have typically provided funds based on an overall funding rate rather than in specified amounts.

Fourth, the use of budget authority provided in the CR has been prohibited for new activities not funded in the previous fiscal year.

Fifth, the duration and amount of funds in the CR, and purposes for which they may be used for specified activities, may be adjusted through anomalies.

Sixth, legislative provisions—which create, amend, or extend other laws—have been included in some instances.

Shutdowns are on the president according to DJT.

15th post
More people blame Trump than democrats.
That's normal in these situations since the democrats have a sycophantic press eager to present the narrative spun by democrats. Anytime Republicans can even get close to a breakeven point, it's a win for them, as in this case. Schumer will have to face the music when SNAP runs out of money and it's clear that he could have stopped the shutdown at any point with a statement.

What changes or modifications are the Republicans proposing? Trump’s words can only bite him so much if the Republicans are proposing a clean resolution that Democrats have signed off previously and the Republicans are not proposing changes.

If the Republicans had their own demands and modifications, your video would be more relevant.

Shutdowns are on the president according to DJT.
Yeah, guess what, citizen TRUMP! was wrong. Of course, you can believe he was right and champion his statement if you like.

So what? Unless Thune goes nuclear there is nothing a president can do to end the shutdown.
The art of the deal!

Negotiate,

instead of giving democrat request for ALL of the expanded ACA recipients continuing to get tax credits make it 75% of them will ONLY, starting in 2027, but the very top 25% of highest earners won't, and in 2 years drop another 25% of those highest earners...giving them time to plan and research the avenues that they can best financially support...

And gives insurance companies time to adjust as well....make it less chaotic....

is just 1 example....for one of the differences between them...
