Let me clear this up for you. Trump will win. Wonder no more. The DNC, the media, the moderators of the debates, the candidates themselves have made that a sure bet. I'm not a Trump fan. It is what it is.

Two, I absolutely said that privatization of government functions has not worked out. What you do not get to do is to bullshit people by pretending that the government/people is not paying those "privatized functions". Further, when those entities are sued it will be the people that pay for that via taxes. When they don't make a big enough profit, they shut down or they win even more money with zero oversight. Furthermore, that trend is continued by people like you who insist that the word "privatization" is enough to satisfy you.

The United States has been mixed economy. It will remain that way.

There actually quite a few social democracies around, many of the European countries and as a matter of fact so is the USA to some extent. Have we not enacted certain policies along these lines?

The problem with SD countries is that all those services cost a lot of money, and that's why their tax burden is so high. None of this shit where half of the people pay no federal income tax, in SD countries EVERYBODY pays. A lot. And even then they have had to scale back those public services via privatization or some other means. For example, prior to the 1st SD gov't around 1970, Sweden had the highest growth rate out of all countries in Europe. From the late 19th century until about 1970, they were very much pro markets, economic freedom, and minimal government involvement. But then from 1970 to 1991, they enacted too many socialistic programs that proved to be un-affordable and failed miserably. Through that period, Sweden recorded the lowest growth rate in Western Europe, and post 1991 introduced market reform, tax cuts, and welfare cuts, which resulted in massive growth allowing them to have the second highest growth rate in Europe,

Democratic socialism is a little bit different. These guys see capitalism as being inherently incompatible with the democratic values of freedom, equality, and solidarity; and believe that the issues inherent to capitalism can only be solved by superseding private ownership with some form of social ownership. Which essentially is gov't-controlled, either directly or second-hand but I can't think of any DS country that isn't gov't run. The "Democratic" part is just a label to make a totalitarian state appear to be other than what they are IMHO. Looks at Venezuela and Cuba, does anyone really think inequality, poverty, and oppression is any better there than here?

Yes, and more. Does your local hospital pay property taxes? Prolly not. Who picks up the tab? Everybody else. So, we have people that are covering for additional people over here the Federal income tax. In the States, we have property owners covering for these entities over there. People pay and pay and pay and don't see any return to the people. They see a bunch of condescending jackoffs. And when the powers that be start making cuts, it's the people that lose crap first.

That is the attraction to Democratic Socialism itself.
